Aside from the new Zenbook S lineup with Copilot+, ASUS also introduced some new models into their ProArt lineup at Computex 2024. Like the new Zenbook S, these new ProArt models also come with Copilot+ and the new Snapdragon X chipset. There were three models launched – the ProArt P16, the ProArt PX13, and the ProArt PZ13 tablet.
The one that really caught my attention was the ProArt PZ13 tablet. It might be a tablet, but ASUS calls it a “detachable laptop” since it does run on Windows. This makes it perfect for users who are always on the go or even content creators who want to edit their content on the fly. You get a beautiful OLED touchscreen display, an IP52 rating, and even a full set of I/O ports to match.
That said, the design of the ProArt PZ13 is quite subtle. It’s made out of aluminum which feels nice to the touch and feels sturdy. ASUS does claim it is military-grade tested to “ensure maximum durability”, making it great if you’re outdoors.
The PZ13 alone is quite thin measuring just 9mm thick, but it isn’t the lightest weight 1.87 lbs (0.85kg). Once you add on the cover and the keyboard, however, it becomes even heavier and bulkier. Still, it’s not bad for what ASUS claims this tablet can do.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to remove the cover that comes with it to showcase the back panel, but the cover looks nice. The green color also enhances the military and rugged vibe it gives off. It also comes with a 13MP rear camera paired with a 5MP front camera.
In terms of ports, it’s similar to what you would find on a small 14-inch laptop. You get two USB-C ports and even an SD card adapter. One of the USB-C ports is exposed for easy charging access. The SD card and the other USB-C port are hidden inside a flap, which protects it from any dust and debris when you’re out and about.
The detachable Bluetooth keyboard is quite ergonomic and feels nice to the touch. Using the trackpad isn’t cumbersome either; it feels like using a small 14-inch laptop. Specifically, it reminds me of the keyboard feel of the new Zenbook S 16 which is great to use. It also comes with a stylus for those who need to use it for sketching or drawing works.
As with all ProArt models, one of the highlights of the PZ13 is the display. It’s a 13-inch 3K ASUS Lumina OLED panel, which is one of the nicer panels on the market today. Similar to other ProArt models, you can full customize the colors to your liking. There is even a light color sensor to ensure you have accurate colors all the time.
It only has a 60Hz refresh, but it should be more than enough if you are using this mainly for creative work. I mean, this isn’t a gaming tablet. To match the military-grade protection of the body, the display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass NBT.
Like the rest of the new laptops from ASUS, the ProArt PZ13 is also powered by a Snapdragon X chipset. Similar to the Zenbook S 16, we didn’t have too much time to try it out. While we did get to see the Copilot+ at work once again, it’s effectively the same. This being a Copilot+ model, it also has a dedicated NPU AI chipset.
My concern is the Snapdragon X chipset, which might have an issue running some commonly used apps for content creation such as Adobe Lightroom, Illustrator, Photoshop, and more. ASUS did say the ProArt PZ13 will come with free CapCut among other apps so at least there is that.
Other specs of the ASUS ProArt PZ13 include up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The battery is rated at 70Wh, and I’m curious to see how long it lasts before needing a charge. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get our hands on a review unit soon since the PZ13 tablet is quite interesting.
As with the other new models ASUS launched at Computex 2024, there is no word yet when these will be available in the Philippines together with the price. Do check back once we have more information regarding the ProArt PZ13.
This is the cutest thing ever
