Globe becomes the first telco to offer free internet access in LRT stations by installing Wi-Fi spots in all 20 stops. This move is expected to serve about 400,000 passengers on a daily basis.
The telecommunications company, together with the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), signed an agreement that would provide Wi-Fi services to LRT1 passengers and employees. In addition, Globe will also install fiber optic cable system to extend the length of the entire LRT1 and cover all LRT stations and LRMC’s depot in Pasay City.
Globe also plans to deploy cell sites in each of the LRT stations to enhance its wireless infrastructure with LTE700/1800/2600 MHz spectrum.
“As the purveyor of the Filipino digital lifestyle, we, at Globe, recognize customer demand for constant connectivity even as they are on the go. We are confident that the deployment of free Wi-Fi services in all LRT stations will bring better communication or even improve work productivity for our customers,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Governance, Network Technical Group.

mas magiging masikip ngayon sa loob ng station dahil dadami ang tambay para sa libreng wifi.
I wonder if the wifi will be faster than the trains? how much bandwidth is being offered? and what guarantee minimum speed is being offered?
