Netgear Nighthawk X10 router works on 60GHz frequency for blazing speeds

Tired of your slow Wi-Fi router at home? Netgear is offering the Nighthawk X10 AD7200 smart Wi-Fi router which offers blazing fast speeds — but it will cost you.

Basically, the new Nighthawk X10 AD7200 smart Wi-Fi router supports 802.11ad Wi-Fi standard and operates on the 60GHz frequency band that allows for fast Wi-Fi. How fast? The company claims up to 4.6Gbps as long as you keep a fairly close distance and there is a clear line of sight.

Netgear Nighthawk X10 specs and features:

  • AD7200 Quad Stream Wave2 Wi-Fi support for up to 4600Mbps (60GHz band) + 1733Mbps (5GHz band) + 800Mbps (2.4GHz band)
  • Built-in Plex Media Server
  • 1.7GHz quad-core processor with high-performance active antennas
  • Six Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports with dual ports with line aggregation mode for fast file transfers (up to 2Gbps wired speeds)
  • 2x USB 3.0 ports
  • Automatic backup to the cloud with Amazon Drive
  • Netgear ReadyCloud
  • 10Gbps fiber port for supported NAS servers
  • Mu-MMO for simultaneous streaming of data to multiple devices
  • Netgear UP app for Android and iOS
  • Netgear Genie app

This router indeed is not for the casual internet user but for the hardcore ones. And with its price of $500, it’s not the kind you see on shelves and impulsively buy right away.
