PLDT, Smart win Ookla Speedtest Awards

Ookla Speedtest has released their Ookla Speedtest Awards, citing PLDT as the fastest fixed network and Smart as the fastest mobile network in the Philippines.

For the Fastest Fixed Network Award for the Philippines in Q1-Q2 2018, PLDT was cited as the winner for achieving a Speed Score of 17.31, with top speeds of 53.07 Mbps for download and 54.31 Mbps for upload. SKY is second with a Speed Score of 10.89, followed by Smart Bro with 9.79, and Globe with 6.58.

For the Fastest Mobile Network for during Q1-Q2 2018, Smart bagged the award. It achieved a Speed Score of 14.98, with average download speeds of 17.25 Mbps and average upload speeds of 7.65 Mbps. Globe, on the other hand, got a score of 9.93.

According to Ookla Speedtest, the Speed Score incorporates a measure of each provider’s download and upload speed to rank network speed performance. You can read the full report and methodology in the source link below.

    Those numbers and awards amount to squat. Real-life speeds based on experience are still something that PLDisConnect and Globesucks should NOT be proud of. They are still a long way from their counterparts abroad.
