Along with the MateBook X Pro 2022, Huawei has also released the MateBook 16s with a 16-inch display, 12th-gen Intel Core processor, and 84Wh battery. Check out our hands-on below.
The Huawei Matebook 16s is for those who are looking for a laptop with a large screen for maximum mobile productivity. What we like about this model is that the 16-inch screen has slim bezels, boasting a 90% screen-to-body ratio. The panel is IPS and has a resolution of 2.5K (2520 x 1680) or equal to 189ppi.
The aspect ratio is 3:2, has maximum brightness of 300 nits, a color gamut of 100% sRGB, and an optional touch screen model that supports 10-point multi-touch and finger gesture screenshot.
Even with the slim bezel, Huawei was able to fit a 1080p camera with AI Camera features like FollowCam which keeps you in the center of the screen when you move around. It even has a built-in Virtual Background function for video calls.
Below the screen is the fingerprint power button and the backlit keyboard with 1.5mm travel. Also noticeable in this area are the large speakers placed on the left and right-hand sides.
Below the keyboard is the large glass touchpad that supports gestures, then down at that edge are two microphones.
Look on the left, we have a USB-C port, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
On the right are two USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
The Huawei MateBook 16s uses CNC aluminum and is sandblasted for a smooth matte finish. It comes in Space Gray, has a maximum thickness of 17.8mm, and features a hinge that allows you to easily lift the lid with just one hand.
Powering the MateBook 16s is up to 12th-gen Intel Core i9-12900H processor with 60W TDP, Intel Iris Xe Graphics, 16GB RAM, up to 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, a silent cooling system that features two large fans and two extra-wide heat pipes, and Windows 11 Home with Super Device, allowing you to connect to devices like the MatePad Pro 11 and Huawei MateView wirelessly.
The Huawei MateBook 16s is now available for pre-order in the Philippines. The Core i7-12700H with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD is priced at PHP 89,999 and comes with a free Huawei MateView (worth PHP 34,999) as part of the pre-order bundle.
