Xiaomi RedmiBook 15 w/ Core i5-11300H Hands-on

Xiaomi recently launched in the Philippines its latest laptop, the RedmiBook 15. It sports a 15.6-inch Full HD screen and is powered by up to Core i5-11300H processor. Check out our hands-on and benchmarks of this device below.

One of the first things you’ll notice about the RedmiBook 15 is the design. At first glance, you might be reminded of the MacBook Pro given its flat sides.

The lid gives it away though, as it has this tiny “Redmi” branding etched on it, along with the words “POWER YOUR CREATIVITY.” It’s a nice touch and provides a clean look. The dark grey color, on the other hand, gives it a professional look.

Looking on the left, we have the ports for the power adapter, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, and HDMI 1.4.

On the right, we have the Kensington lock, Ethernet port, USB 3.0 Type-A port, SD card reader, and 3.5mm headphone/mic jack.

Underneath, we have four rubber nubs, a huge vent, and two loudspeakers placed on the left and right-hand sides.

Open the lid and you will be greeted by the 15.6-inch Full HD screen. The pixel density is at 141ppi, which is decent. However, we don’t think it’s using an IPS panel as viewing angles are not that wide. The colors shift quickly when the screen is not angled properly.

The bezels have decent thickness. They’re slim at the sides and top, but with a thick bottom.

Placed above the screen are the 720p webcam and array microphones.

Below the screen, we have the full-size keyboard with 1.5mm key travel. They’re plastic with a matte finish. They’re actually nice to type on as it has a soft landing and is very quiet. There’s no backlighting, though, and there’s this huge empty space on the left and right sides of the keyboard. It would have been nice if they placed the speaker there.

Below the keyboard is a large PTP touchpad. It’s smooth and responsive, with minor flex when pressing for the left and right clicks.

When it comes to the quality, the RedmiBook 15 is mostly made of plastic but of high quality with a nice texture that resembles a metallic build. It feels solid and doesn’t flex when pressed, except for the top lid, but it’s not a big deal. The hinge also feels great as it is firm but can be smoothly adjusted.

Powering the RedmiBook 15 model that we have is an Intel Core i5-11300H processor with Intel Iris Xe Graphics, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and 512GB SSD. This configuration is enough for office work, including light photo and video editing, as well as light gaming. Check out some quick benchmark scores below:

• PC Mark 10 Extended – 3,308
• 3D Mark Time Spy – 951

For the battery, the RedmiBook 15 packs a 46Wh battery that can provide up to 10 hours of working time. The 65W power adapter, on the other hand, can charge it 50% in just 33 minutes.

The Xiaomi RedmiBook 15 is now available and starts at PHP 26,999 for the i3-1115G4, Intel UHD, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD. You can also go for this model with i5-11300H, Intel Iris Xe, 8GB RAM, and 512GB SSD for PHP 37,999. This is good for college students for their online schooling and projects as well as professionals who are working from home.
