Microsoft has a new logo, after 25 years

We just can’t ignore the news that Microsoft has changed their corporate logo. The announcement was made yesterday and the new logo represents a fresh new image for the Redmond company.

The photo below shows the new logo (on top) and the old logo (bottom part).

The new logo is more colorful and resembles closely the look of Windows and the Metro UI. The part where it took us by surprise was the fact that Microsoft has not changed their logo in the last 25 years.

You folks like the new Microsoft logo?

As per graphic knowledge concern : Either previous was fine or if they wanted to change then they should have given new styles or such related things. Coz this present logo is like Four Square cigarette copy. I do not like.

  2. baskinificent says:

It doesn’t matter which is which; The system is more important.

  3. batnet says:

I like the new logo :D cool!

  4. rafraf says:

I like the new one. Clean. Minimalist. I’m not really a fan of italics.

  5. Edwin C says:

    Like very much.

  6. Variouztrickz says:

Like the new logo! Modern yet simple!

  7. Yuja says:

Still prefer the old Logo. The new one still looks old. IMHO

  8. Obed Cutaran says:

I thought that the top logo was the old one. I don’t like it.

In my opinion walang wow factor I don’t like the font, the mark feels too common. Though I say the color combination was ok.

I still like the old one, simple yet very appealing. Specially the letters “OS”

  9. tim says:

I like the new logo. Just shows how dedicated they are to windows 8.

  10. Nayr says:

    Cool!

  11. les says:

dapat ung old logo nilagyan na lang nila ng 4 colored squares sa gilid…

  12. Jess says:

well, the logo looks fine but nothing is astonishing, I also prefer the old one.

  13. paul says:

For those who are saying that this is a new logo, you got it wrong! The “new” logo is actually an old logo used by Microsoft for the commercial of Windows 95!

Here’s a video showing my proof:

  14. abrahamdsl says:

WTF?! Shouldn’t have included the Windows Logo at best. But still, I prefer the old one.

    • Glen says:

not saying they plagiarized. That’s why it has a question mark :)

      Looks similar though

    • Jim says:

      Are you sure?

  15. chinitoguy says:

I love the new MICROSOFT logo! Its a mark of a fresh new start for them and a mark that Microsoft will crush Apple once and for all.

  16. hey_jay says:

    minimalist approach ei!

  17. Paul A. says:

    Yes old school rocks.
And, MS has the impression of being high tech, with the feel of 3d logo, this one is just flat.

Maybe clean is the new black?!

  18. brent says:

    cool!

  19. Mark says:

The old logo still looks better, IMHO.

  20. Erick says:

    Parang colors ng google chrome.

    • Jim says:

Google Chrome copied the 4 colors of Microsoft Windows, and made a new design out of it..

  21. robbie says:

@Justin: it’s called innovation, you can’t categorize it with fix/broken. wew

    • Justin says:

You call slapping an OS with a new UI innovation? Wow! Talk about shallow.

    • grrr says:

wew? Wew? WEW? Yuck, kadiri ka.

  22. Justin says:

They changed their logo to look like Metro UI in the hopes that more people would adopt it (Metro UI). Personally, I don’t like it. As the saying goes, why fix something that ain’t broken?

  23. Maek Jara says:

I still like the old school. Like an aged Whiskey.
