A report from Bleeping Computer has revealed that Discord will soon be switching to temporary file links for all users by the end of 2023 in the hopes of blocking malware distribution.
It stated that after the change to temporary file links, all links to files uploaded on Discord servers will expire after 24 hours, with Discord themselves recommending users that host files on the paltform to find a more suitable service.
However, Discord says that the change won’t have any impact on Discord users who share content within the Discord client as any links within it shall be refreshed automatically.
However, links shared outside of Discord will expire after a day once they roll out its authentication enforcement changes.
Discord also shared that these changes will roll out later this year and that they would share more information to devleopers in the coming weeks.
