OPPO has officially unveiled their latest smartphone in India, sporting a 6.23-inch FHD+ display, MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, up to 6GB RAM, and a 25MP front camera with A.I. technology, the OPPO F7. If you’re thinking of buying this phone, check out its best features below.
Table of Contents
The OPPO F7 sports a large 6.23-inch screen with 19:9 aspect ratio, which OPPO calls the “Super Full Screen”. The display design with a notch puts it in the same league as the Vivo V9, Apple iPhone X, ASUS ZenFone 5, and its cousin, the OPPO R15. It also boasts an 88% screen-to-body ratio and Full HD+ (2280 x 1080) resolution, which equates to a good 405ppi. If you’re looking for a smartphone that can provide you with a good viewing experience, the F7 can deliver.
Powering the OPPO F7 is the new MediaTek Helio P60 2.0GHz octa-core chipset that was announced in February. It packs Dual AI cores which consists of two AI Processing units that are exclusive to the said chipset. In addition, it has an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU 800MHz GPU, up to 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB storage with a dedicated microSD card slot, and a 3,400mAh battery with A.I. Battery Management. OPPO says that the F7’s performance is 80% higher than the F5. It scored 138,658 in AnTuTu benchmarks which is impressive for a mid-range smartphone.
The F7 sports 16MP f/1.8 rear and 25MP f/2.0 front cameras. Both have A.I.-powered features such as scene and object recognition that can identify 16 scenes and objects: Sunset, Grass, Indoor, Food, Sky, Snow, Night, Dog, Portrait, Baby, Firework, Beach, Scenery, Text, Cat, and Stage Light.
The front camera, aside from having a higher sensor resolution, sports Sensor HDR for selfies with better dynamic range. It also has the improved A.I. Beauty Technology 2.0. Facial recognition is now better as it uses 296 positioning spots, and can detect gender, age, and skin tone; AR stickers, A.I. Learning tool that remembers your selfie editing preferences, and a faster and more secure Face Unlock with AI Recognition Technology that uses 128 recognition points to identify your face.
Despite its large display, the F7 is still wieldy at 75.3mm wide and 7.8mm thick. It also has a decent heft at 158g. It also comes with a glossy finish, which is eye-catching, but is also most likely to be a fingerprint and smudge magnet. It comes in three colors: Solar Red, Moonlight Silver, and Diamond Black.
The OPPO F7 runs on ColorOS 5.0, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It uses gestures like swipe, flick, drag, and tap, to navigate the home screen, although we hope we can still bring out the traditional navigation keys. It also features A.I. Photo Management and Full-Screen Multitasking which can hold app icons or notification bubbles, so you can still read and reply to messages without interrupting your games or videos.
That sums up the best features of the OPPO F7. We’re looking forward to its launch in the Philippines, so we can put it to the test for our full review.
