5 Winning Features of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is one of the highlights of MWC 2017, to the point that it was recognized as the Best New Smartphone at the annual Global Mobile Awards. So what makes the XZ Premium a winner? Here are five reasons.

1. Premium build and attractive design

Just looking at the Xperia XZ alone will already tell you of its quality. It sports what Sony calls the glass loop surface that creates a mirror effect. It’s not an ordinary glass though as it is made from Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, both the front and back. The top and bottom of the device, on the other hand, are made of metal with diamond cut edges. The camera even has a stainless steel ring. As for its overall design, it has features reminiscent of old flagship Xperias but still looks modern.

2. Water resistant and dust-proof

The XZ Premium’s body is not just about aesthetics as Sony has also given it water and dust resistance rated at IP65/68. That said, you won’t have to worry even if you drop it in water, take calls in the rain, or accidentally spill liquids on it. If it’s dusty or dirty, you can clean it with water from the faucet.

3. 4K HDR display, High-Res audio

Sony has always injected BRAVIA TV genes in their Xperia smartphones and it’s very evident in the XZ Premium with a 4K HDR screen. It has Triluminos Display tech which can output 138% of the color spectrum, X-Reality with Noise Reduction, texture and outline improvement, pixel reproduction, and Dynamic Contrast Enhancer. To sum it up, the Xperia XZ Premium has one of the most impressive displays in the market. Not only that, the XZ Premium also supports Hi-Res audio with DSEE HX technology, LDAC for Bluetooth streaming, Digital Noise Cancelling (DNC), S-Force Front Surround, Automatic Headphone Optimisation (AHO), and Virtual Phones Technology (VPT), to name a few.

4. Motion Eye camera with 960fps slow motion

Sony is one of the leaders when it comes to imaging and it’s no surprise the XZ Premium sports one of the most impressive cameras in a smartphone. What we’re talking about is the 19MP Motion Eye camera with a 1/2.3″ Exmor RS memory stacked sensor, with triple image sensing technology, predictive hybrid autofocus, and SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode (5-axis stabilization). One of its most impressive feats is its capability to shoot super slow motion videos in 960fps.

5. Snapdragon 835 with Gigabit LTE

Granted that it’s running a high-res display and a powerful camera, the XZ Premium needs a powerful engine to push all that hardware. In this case, it’s the Snapdragon 835 processor supported by an Adreno 540 GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB UFS. According to Qualcomm, the SD835 is 35% smaller and uses 25% less power than previous designs, and is engineered to deliver long battery life, VR and AR experiences, and cutting-edge camera capabilities. In addition, it also features the Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 LTE (Cat 16) modem for Gigabit-Class download speeds.

  2. ian says:

PREMIUM BUILD and ATTRACTIVE DESIGN with that EPIC BEZEL ?? Hahahaha. OK. Sony eh. Lol

Tsk tsk

    • Hyoizaburo. says:

Ang mga phones from SoKor kung ako tatanungin yang Samsung at LG, mga siraing phone within a 6 months to a year may mga problema na agad.

  3. Edline Lafrance says:

Sony Xperia Z is my favorite phone

  4. Vinz says:

  7. SonyPanboi says:

Deym. We have a winner! Can’t wait for this phone. Sana below $1000 to

    • eric says:

      799 yata yung expected price.

    • wew says:

Malamang below 1000 dollars nga yan. Mga 999 lang siguro. Sony pa. Kahit sobrang lapad ng bezels ng phone nila, pagkamahal mahal ng presyo. Hihihi!
