Apple has recently stopped the hype train and took the wraps off of its latest twin — The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The successors to last years controversial iPhone 7 and 7 Plus got some pretty nifty upgrades. And no, if you were hoping the 3.5mm headphone jack would make a comeback then we’re afraid you’ll be disappointed.
Check out their best features below.

To be able to support wireless charging Apple had to let go of Aluminum as a back panel for their iPhones as this would interfere with the connection. Hence the reason why the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus has an all-glass design. We don’t blame Apple though because the result is gorgeous. Glass adds a bit more flair and aesthetic to devices as we’ve seen with other glass back phones out in the market and the new iPhones are no exception. However, this makes the device fragile and slippery so handle with care.
You can still bring your iPhone 8 and 8 Plus with you in the shower or at the pool, just don’t drop it below 3.3ft or submerge it underwater for more than 30mins. Although it’s not a new feature or an upgrade we’re still happy to see that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus still has an IP67 rating.
Perhaps the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus’ biggest upgrade is they now have wireless charging capabilities. Apples new phones are now compatible with Qi wireless charging devices expanding users options for juicing up their devices. This new feature is a great addition especially for those who’ve already jumped on the wireless charging bandwagon.
Along with their 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Retina screens, Apple also included what they call True Tone to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus’ displays. Apple first introduced this technology on their 9.7-inch Ipad Pro. With True Tone, the devices screens automatically adjust to match the lighting conditions of its surrounding. The new iPhones also have 3D Touch which we first saw in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. It’s a nifty feature that allows the user to do quick actions and peek and pop on apps based on how hard they press on the screen.
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will ship with Apples latest iOS 11 software. Which means you’ll have all the newest bells and whistles Apples new OS has to offer, which includes a revamped Apple files, a new storage method for iMessage, a new payment option for Apple Pay, a new App Store, and much more. But perhaps the biggest feature iOS 11 will bring to the new iPhones is Augmented Reality (AR) support through Apples ARkit11.
Aside from the screen size the only difference between the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is their cameras. The bigger iPhone 8 Plus has two 12-megapixel cameras with a low sensitivity of f/1.8 and f/2.4 while only a single 12-megapixel shooter rests on iPhone 8‘s back. Both of these phones cameras, however, are an improvement over their predecessors and according to Apple, has a larger and faster sensor that takes in more light and deeper pixels. These cameras are also AR-friendly and feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Both phones now also support 4k video recording at 60fps and 1080p slow-motion recording at 240fps.
