OnePlus recently unveiled their most powerful, and coolest-looking smartphone to-date, the OnePlus 6. Is it still a flagship killer? We can think of 6 reasons why it is. Check out the 6 best features of the OnePlus 6.
Table of Contents
A flagship smartphone needs flagship aesthetics, and the OnePlus 6 didn’t disappoint. It uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back which curves to the rounded sides and corners for a seamless feel. It even comes in three colors with different finishes: Mirror Black for the look and feel of ceramic, Midnight Black for a clean matte look, and Silk White that uses a dash of crushed pearl to produce a shimmering effect.
That’s not all as it also has water-resistance thanks to a special type of foam layered in the gaps, and silicone loops around the buttons. This allows the OnePlus 6 to survive rain, a drop in the sink, or a spilled glass of water. You can’t take it for a swim, though.
OnePlus implements a “Fast and Smooth” philosophy when it comes to the performance of the OnePlus 6 and equipped it with Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset to-date, the Snapdragon 845. They didn’t skimp on the RAM and storage and gave 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X options, as well as 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB UFS 2.1 storage options. Even the starting configuration will be able to handle everything you throw at it, including gaming.
If you’re into mobile photography, the OnePlus 6 boasts a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 16MP + 20MP Sony IMX 519/376K sensors. Selfies, on the other hand, will utilize a 16MP camera. We’re yet to see reviews about its cameras but so far the features are note-worthy like EIS and OIS, the ability to record in 4K at 60fps and up to a minute of slow-motion at 480 fps, and can shoot portraits with a depth-of-field effect.
The OnePlus 6 is one of those smartphones that use a “notch” with a 19:9 aspect ratio, but packs features not found in other smartphones with a similar display design. First of all, it uses a 6.28-inch Full Optic AMOLED display with an FHD+ 2280 x 1080 resolution or equal to 402ppi which is quite good. It has minimal bezels and has sRGB and DCI-P3 color calibrations with an Adaptive mode to help you maximize the display quality depending on your activity.
OnePlus’ Oxygen OS is the company’s own Android UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It is known for its features and high customizability while keeping your phone fast and responsive. It retains the look of Vanilla Android, system-wide dark mode, face unlock, gesture navigation, and Gaming Mode that increases performance, reduces latency and blocks notifications for a better gaming experience.
What makes the OnePlus smartphones popular is the pricing. The OnePlus 6 is priced at USD 529PHP 31,045INR 44,833EUR 504CNY 3,850 (~Php27,700USD 472INR 40,015EUR 450CNY 3,438) for 6GB + 64GB, USD 579PHP 33,979INR 49,070EUR 551CNY 4,214 (~Php30,300USD 516INR 43,771EUR 492CNY 3,760) for 8GB + 128GB, and USD 629PHP 36,913INR 53,308EUR 599CNY 4,578 (~Php32,900USD 561INR 47,527EUR 534CNY 4,083) for 8GB + 256GB, which is more affordable than most flagship smartphones in the market.
If you’re considering getting a flagship-level smartphone minus the heavy price tag, the OnePlus 6 is one to consider. We still don’t have details about its availability in the Philippines but we’re hoping Digital Walker brings it here.
