Xiaomi announced their latest flagship smartphone, the Mi 6, a couple of days ago in China. Even though its top rivals have already launched, its features are still enticing enough to warrant attention. What are they? Check them out below.
1. Premium build and attractive design
Smartphones today push the boundaries of ergonomics by sporting curved bodies made from premium materials. The Mi 6 is no exception and features a high-gloss stainless steel frame with four-sided 3D curved glass. As for color options, the Mi 6 comes in Black, White, and Blue. Xiaomi is also launching a Ceramic Edition with 18-karat gold camera rims.
2. Splash resistant
The Mi 6 also boasts some protection from liquids by having a splash resistant body. We’re not sure if you can submerge it though as the protection might be just enough to withstand accidental spills, splashes, or light rain.
3. Snapdragon 835, 6GB RAM, up to 128GB storage
The Mi 6 packs Qualcomm’s most powerful processor to date, the Snapdragon 835. Not only that, it is paired to a healthy those of memory with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage. That said, the Mi 6 can handle heavy tasks as well as tons of media.
4. Dual rear camera
The Mi 6 is one of the newest flagships in the market with dual rear cameras like the Huawei P10 and LG G6. It uses two 12MP sensors, one with a 27mm wide-angle lens, f/1.8 aperture, and 4-axis OIS stabilization, while the other is 52mm, f/2.6, that is capable of 2x optical lossless zoom.
5. Updated connectivity features
The Mi 6 supports dual-SIM connectivity with 4G+ LTE, 2×2 MIMO dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and NFC. For wired connections and charging there’s a USB C port. There’s no headphone jack though but the package comes with a Type C to audio adapter.
6. Affordable price (if you buy it in China)
Like in the case of most Chinese smartphones, the Mi 6 carries an affordable price tag starting at CNY2,499 (~Php18,054.67) for the 64GB variant. The 128GB model is at CNY 2,899 (~Php20,944.57), while the 128GB Ceramic Edition costs CNY 2,999 (~Php21,667.05). The downside though is that it’s not officially available in the Philippines yet. And if ever it arrives, expect it to cost more.
