So I’ve been using the realme 9 Pro+ as an everyday device for quite a while now, and besides its respectable set of specs, I find myself using its cameras a lot because it’s highly deliverable within its range. It actually packs flagship-grade lenses with a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor that can surely up your social media game. Now if you want to know more about the realme 9 Pro+’s cameras, then keep reading.
The realme 9 Pro+ offers highly deliverable performance, 5G connectivity, cool design, and an AMOLED display; but what standout with this phone is its cameras. We get a triple camera setup at the back, composed of a 50MP Sony IMX766 OIS main, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. For selfies, there’s the 16MP front shooter.

Checking out some sample photos, we were impressed with its 50MP wide Sony IMX766 main camera with a single 1.0μm large pixel. It also has Optical Image Stabilization to help reduce blur. Generally, under direct sunlight or bright lighting, images appear sharp with vibrant colors. The single 1.0μm large pixel can obviously present excellent HDR that doesn’t look overexposed nor washed. We also noticed a nice depth effect going on sometimes, which made the photos look more professional.
And as we all know by now, having a 50MP or more main camera gives you the ability to produce highly detailed images, allowing for better noise-reduction, better color, and sharper details of course. You can take advantage of this easily by going to the 50MP mode in the cam app.
With a large flagship sensor, the realme 9 Pro+ is capable of processing more light, resulting in crisper, cleaner, and well-lit night photography. It’s also highly recommendable for nighttime neon light shots, as well as night sky shots by using the Starry Mode. The Starry Mode is great, but do note that you need to keep the phone really steady for 4 minutes to achieve a stunning shot. It’s best to use it with a tripod or place the phone on a stable surface.
Moreover, there are fun features onboard that you can try for more creative shooting such as built-in filters and Street Photography suite that includes Light Trail Portrait, Neon Trail, Light Painting, and Rush Hour that blurs moving people but still keep still subjects within the shot.
As for the 8MP ultrawide camera, it allows you to take wider scenes at a similar quality as the main sensor, with almost no distortion. We also appreciate how there’s not much fisheye effect in the results we got.
The 2MP macro lens, on the other hand, lets you get up close and personal on your subject up to 4cm without losing too much detail. So if you’re a fan of getting those tiny shots, the realme 9 pro+ is also capable of doing that.
The portrait mode provides good enough subject-background separation, plus you can adjust the aperture to what you prefer.
Checking out some selfies, its 16MP front shooter works best under natural lighting, falling more on cooler tones. The skin tone tends to alter in rare scenarios, but most of the time, it worked fine. With very good lighting or sunlight, you can get a natural-looking photo.
Moving on to videos, you can shoot up to 4K at 30fps and the quality looks sharp with boosted colors. If you want to kick it up a notch, then you can turn on the AI for videos which is limited to 1080p at 30fps.
And yeah, as you saw, the results definitely speak for themselves. Surely, the cameras of this realme 9 Pro+ serve outstanding image quality within its range. It’s a very good option if you’re into mobile photography, but don’t want to spend that much money on a high-end smartphone.
If you want to know more about this device, we’re gonna be doing a separate article for our full review, so stay tuned for that. Also, tune in to the livestream launch event of the realme 9 Pro and Pro+ on March 15, via the realme Philippines Facebook page.
