In addition to the A5 which is a funky, LED-covered smartphone, Alcatel also announced two more handsets in the budget category — these are the U5 and A3 models.
Alcatel U5 specs:
5-inch display @ 854 x 480 resolution
1.1GHz MT6737M quad-core CPU
1GB RAM
8GB internal storage
Expandable via microSD
5MP rear camera w/ LED flash
2MP front camera w/ LED flash
4G LTE
2050mAh battery
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Alcatel A3 specs:
5-inch HD display @ 1280 x 720 resolution
1.25GHz MT6737 quad-core CPU
1.5GB RAM
16GB internal storage
Expandable via microSD
13MP rear camera
5MP front camera
Fingerprint scanner
2460mAh battery
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Pricing and availability for the two handsets are still undisclosed but the company will be selling them as ‘affordable’ devices. With those specs, the price point should really be on the down low to be able to compete with other budget devices.
Two particular aspects that Alcatel has highlighted is the A3 s premium build and its enhanced level of security due to the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor.
There’s the budget flash line and the idol/one touch overpriced models. Are they produced by the same alcatel company or different subsidiaries (the tcl-acquired vs the nokia-owned)?
