Early last week we showed you the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra which is currently the world’s slimmest smartphone at 6.45mm. This time we show you the sibling, the One Touch Idol, and it’s also very slim at only 7.9mm.
The One Touch Idol is a more mainstream version of the “Ultra” where it’s a little bit toned down in specifications and now using a brushed aluminium finished plastic body. But Alcatel managed to maintain the slim profile.
The body sports a unibody design but you’ll have the regular volume rocker and micro sim slot on the right, power button and 3.5mm headset jack on the top, micro sd on the left, and micro usb on the bottom. Also the micro sim and sd slots are covered by a flip top cover.
The display is an IPS 4.7” qHD 540×960 which is quite bright than the usual, this is due to that Alcatel used a technology that bonds the screen and glass together which delivers a brighter and vivid screen. Plus the screen is protected by Dragon Trail glass which is starting to be a standard in mid-level smartphones.
Alcatel One Touch Idol specs :
4.7-Inch IPS display @ 540×960 pixels, 236ppi
MediaTek MTK 6577+ 1GHz dual-core processor
1GB RAM
4GB Internal Memory
up to 32GB via microSD
3G/HSDPA
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
GPS with A-GPS
8mp Camera w/1080p video @ 30fps
2mp Front Facing Camera
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
1800mAh Battery
133 x 67.5 x 7.9mm (dimensions)
110g (weight)
Besides running on Jelly Bean 4.1 Alcatel made some slight modification to their UI where it’s more pleasant to the eyes especially the line based icon notifications, also they generously added various essential apps already to avoid downloading like evernote, facebook, flashlight, barcode scanner and the Sun Cellular mobile app.
One feature we liked is the LED notification which is rare for phones in its price range, right now we give Alcatel a pretty good impression with their overall execution with the One touch Idol.
The handset is available via Sun Cellular and comes free with Plan 600, watch out for our full review soon.

Michael Arcangel says:
Got one last weekend. i purchased my OT idol from Memoxpress Festival Mall. 6030X ang available sa kanila which has 1GB RAM according to the unit itself. Sobrang gaan nya.
Main concern ko lang is yun battery life dahil after a whole day of calls, text, konting games, facebook, pag uwi ko ng bahay ay mga nasa 20% battery life na lang sya.
Another thing is wala pang available na protective casings. inikot ko na yun buong Quiapo para maghanap pero wala talaga. I just got the jelly case for S4, mejo maluwag lang sya but ok na kaysa sa walang protection. you just have to cut on some areas of the casing para mas maging accessible yun volume rocker, usb port, power button, headphone socket and speakers.
Since I’m always in the field, i need a car charger and unfortunately wala pa din available sa malls. I tried to inquire at their local website if where I can buy one and I’m hoping to receive a reply from them. I have with me a generic USB car charger and I’m using it for my galaxy Y. When I tried to use it on my Idol, the phone says it detected an unauthorized charger which can damage the phone. WAAAAAHHH!
But overall, I’m very satisfied with my OT Idol. Pati mga colleagues ko nagandahan sila. Hindi nila malalaman na Alcatel pala sya kung hindi ko pa sinabi at makita yun back cover ng phone which bears the Alcatel logo.

Uhm, guys disregard my first comment.
According to a comment in GSMArena
There is 3 (three) versions of One Touch Idol: 6030A, 6030X and 6030D. A and X are single SIM phones with 4GB internal storage and SD card slot, but 6030A has 512MB of RAM while 6030X has 1GB of RAM.
6030D is dual SIM phone with 1GB of RAM, NO SD CARD SLOT, but with 16GB of internal storage and I’m buying it ASAP. Hope this helps! :)
That’s it
ariane says:

The features are pretty cool…I think this smartphone can compete in the market.
Danny says:
Ganda ng shots, gusto ko yung LED notification parang rare nga yun today for mid-range smartphone.
@abuzalzal : Mas maganda naman siguro screen nito than the omega HD but medyo curious ako doon sa sinasabing layout
abuzalzal says:
Mala- Omega HD din pala ang specs (barring the lower res screen)
Magkano ba ‘to ng mahusgahan kung overpriced o hindi? I have a feeling I might flip out of my chair hahaha
weryou@ says:
It costs around 11k. Idol Ultra yung around 14k.
Quack says:
I saw this in SM North Edsa cyberzone, it costs around 14 thousand, I think? It’s great for its price range, though I hate the fact that they focused more on making the thinnest phone and didn’t think much about the specs
boom1987 says:
is this dual sim?
Nereid says:
I think there is a little inconsistency regarding the the RAM of the unit. Other sites say that the idol only has a 512mb of RAM.
thank you
