Here are the advantages of each smartphone:
The ZenFone Max Pro M2 carries a larger screen size with a taller aspect ratio which is more ideal for people who are fond of watching videos. When it comes to glass protection, both the M2 and the Mi A2 are equipped with Gorilla Glass but the former has the latest model as compared to the latter.
Although both powered by Snapdragon 660 chipsets, they’re not identical as the Mi A2 has a higher clock speed. The benchmark scores also showed that the Mi A2 is better overall (AnTuTu, PC Mark, Geekbench) but what’s weird is that the Max Pro M2 has a better multi-core performance. Don’t worry though as these differences are not noticeable in real life especially if you’re a casual user.
For gaming, both devices have the same GPU that can run moderate-to-heavy graphic games. People can choose any of these smartphones and still win in this aspect.
Mi A2 dominates the Max Pro M2 in terms of camera resolutions and apertures. When shooting in low-light conditions, the former is the more viable pick since it has a wider aperture. We can’t determine yet which one is better in terms of overall quality but if you want us to do a camera comparison, let us know in the comments below.
In the meantime, take a look at the sample shots we took on both devices here. (ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 and Xiaomi Mi A2)
Battery performance is already decided given the Max Pro M2’s larger battery capacity and battery benchmark score. So if you want something that can last you a whole day of heavy usage, you know what to pick.
Both devices are using stock Android but the Mi A2’s advantage is its inclusion in the Android One program which means that it will receive security updates directly from Google.
Here are the prices of each smartphone:
If you are fond of taking photos, updating your device’s software, USB Type-C, and better overall smartphone performance, then the Mi A2 is the right pick for you. However, if you are into watching videos, playing games, and in need of a long battery life, then the Max Pro M2 is the right choice.
