The Blackberry Bold gets a nice upgrade with the newer Bold 9700 model which is expected to be released by next month. If last month’s Blackberry Curve 8520 isn’t too equipped for your needs, the Blackberry Bold 9700 has it.
No indication what processing power is inside but it could be the same as the BB Bold 9000 at 624 MHz.
2.6-inch display @ 480×360 pixel resolution
Full QWERTY keyboard
Touch-sensitive optical trackpad
3.5 mm audio jack
1GB storage, 256MB ROM
up to 16GB via microSD
3G/HSDPA 3.6 Mbps
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g
Bluetooth 2.1
3.15 MP autofocus, IS, LED flash (2048×1536 pixels)
GPS with aGPS support
Included is a document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) and a really nice battery pack (Li-Ion 1500 mAh).
The main difference between this one and the older version is that RIM has replaced the problematic trackball navigation with an optical trackpad.

I love my BB Bold 9700. Great phone even though the bezel slightly creaks near the p, q and a buttons.
Tryme says:
Long time BB user issued by the companies I work for. Email push is fab and the messenger is great to chat up friends. My only issue with Globe as my carrier is the lack of support/availability to the bb apps world… Compared to the iPhone, not much to download at all.
andrea says:
I have BB9700 and it’s awesome! I’m just in a process of exploring like using the net without wifi etc but since I think globe’s now offering unlimited net access for prepaid subscribers so that’s no problemo na! Price ranges from 26k upto 29K I guess.
michael says:
i have a technical problem in wifi connection.. i cannot use the blackberry9700 to wifi internet, even in yahoo messenger.. is the internet only available by connecting to 3G or GPRS network?, why not possible in wifi. or is it blocked by globe?
otel says:
hi i just wanna ask if i brought it from the middle east, kasi its d’same lng din, and i want to used BB in phil. so do i need pa na mag paline either sa globe and smart para lng magamit ko sya in phil. makakreceive din ba ako ng mga emails if nasa phil. ako?
mia says:
I just bought one and still exploring. Does anybody know how to view how many kbs i have already used so i wont go beyond my plan? btw, i got a plan from globe – they have new bb plans.
I really love it but i haven’t activated it yet and globe said they’re going to have someone from globe call me regarding the imei etc.
i really love it. this is better than the iphone! i had iphone before and this is way better! i love the clarity of the screen. parang tv na! hehe :)
btw, does anyone know where to get apps? thanks!
berry says:
I have this phone and am able to maximize it ‘coz of BIS. I like the trackpad better than the trackball which the bold 9000 has, plus internet browsing is really fast. The size is just enough, not too big yet not too small.
I love this phone!

for those who want a selection of blackberry fones available here in the philippines go here: http://www.ebuystore.com.ph/products.php?cat_id=1&sub_id=52 -Im not promoting the store, nor do I own it, it’s just that I happen to be researching on smartphones because I desperately want to buy one. Im going for either the BB bold 9700 or Nokia n97. Im leaning towards BB, I just want to know which network, smart or globe, can support BB’s features.. I mean it’d be useless to have a powerful phone and not be able to use the features because the network can’t support it. So if any of you guys have any experience or input regarding it that you could share, I’d be very thankful… :)
el cuerpo says:
ahm, what is the exact price of Blackberry Bold 9700?
AJ Babao says:
This is one well built smartphone outperforming the E71 series of Nokia and including Samsungs own lineup. of the Omnia Series. High class workmanship in every detail. no wonder it’s a favorite among business professionals.

Blackberry is the king of emails and communications. There is no other phone on the market that has a better keyboard than the berry. BBM is a huge selling point as well and it is the most secure device you can own of any cell phone (I wonder why the president owns one, as well as mega corporations like Boeing and even executive officers from companies like Google and Apple use blackberry)
