Last year’s Cherry Mobile Flame gets a major hardware upgrade in the form the just recently announced Flame 2.0. From a dual-core processor with 512MB RAM and Android ICS, it now has a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and Android Jellybean. Check out our first impressions after the break.
In the looks department, the Flame 2.0 is something that won’t immediately catch your attention due to its low-keyed design. It sports a black rectangular body with slight curves at the top and bottom. The sides are covered by a silver band with a brushed finish while the removable plastic backplate has a pearly gloss to it.
Overall, the Flame 2.0 is nicely built. It’s easy to hold, with a decent amount of heft and thin enough to easily slide in and out of your pockets. Even with its simple design, the Flame 2.0 exudes some sort of elegance. Actually, if you look at it at a certain angle it kind of reminds you a bit of the iPhone 4.
We managed to do some benchmarks on the Flame 2.0 using AnTuTu, Quadrant Standard, NenaMark2 and Vellamo. AnTutu gave it a score of 10,819. Quadrant scored it at 4,602. NenaMark2 gauged the Adreno 203 GPU at 38.2fps, while Vellamo gave it a score of 1,297 on HTML5 and 344 on Metal.
We tried playing a few games on the Flame 2.0 one of which is Temple Run 2 set in its best graphic quality. Watch our hands on video below:

BURST says:
Never never never buy a cherry mobile. I agree it’s always lucrative as it packed with a lot of features and low price. As many visitors also has mentioned, it has hidden defects. I bought 3 cherry mobiles BURST. Two of them had to be sent to repair just AFTER A MONTH… THE OTHER ONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH SMS AND CONTACTS. (i have deleted all the old messages and no apps installed other than viber and skype. ) the problem is it hangs for more than 15 mins n i have to take out the battery every time. When someone sends me a msg, the screen lits up n i have to wait for 30+ mins to te recieve the msg. also the data connection is very slow, when compared to other sets/brands of lower config. it can’t even open a web page without taking much time. (tested with same sim/network on other sets). Recently i am also concerned with SAR ratio of this brand. While using, my ear gets a sharp uncomfortable feeling. Better to pay some money for a good fone set with low SAR than to use a cheap fone and high treatment cost for your epidermoid tumors.
The most irritating of this brand i experienced was the after sales and customer care service. They provide 6 numbers to contact for inquiry about the phone set sent to repair. I called on all of the given numbers at different hours of a day for a week and no one recieved it. It took me several visit to repair center that lasted 2 months to get back the phone sets. For the 2 months, I don’t have the money to buy a new phone and i dont have a phone that i paid for.(u just wasted your money!!!) Add the taxi fare for 5 visits to and fro from the repair center, it will give me a better set(had i realised that before, i would not have suffered so much). Now its been repaired, but still lags a lot n lot. SOmetimes after a long sleep(like overnight not in use), it will not wake up even after pressing the power key several times. I have to remove the battery n then restart. So much of the hassel to buy the phone. BEWARE !!!
[Guys i know this is not a forum or a cherry BURST review. I just wanted to shared my awful experience i face with this brand so that others dont have to suffer the same, AND of course don’t neglect the SAR. Please don’t bash me for this]
Nicole says:
just bought Flame 2 but unfortunately they didnt give me a freebie of Power bank as what you stated in the review…
“ow if you think the 1,600mAh battery is a downer, Cherry Mobile will be giving out a free power bank when you purchase a Flame 2.0 until May 31, 2013. Check back on us in the coming weeks for a full review.”
allison says:
my flame 2.0 got 11047 on antutu? bt di parehas ng sa test unit ng sa yugatech?
PFB says:
Sorry dudes, saw a flare 2 today in a mall somewhere in laguna – NO FREEBIES.
kit says:
ganun din na experience nun gumamit ako ng usb kusa sya nagalaw but i try to another naging ok naman wala sya problem
Ian says:
mike says:
tama may hidden defect ung nabili namin try nyo na mg usb transfer auto siya nagalaw magisa even you dont touch the screen di naman maiiwasan ung mga defect ang mahirap lang ung repair REbrand yan di original na gawa ni cherry san kukuha ng parts yan??
mario says:
I was at MOA last night to watch pyromusical & decided to drop by the Cherry Mobile store. Most of the blogs are saying there is free PowerBank upon purchase pero sabi ng clerk kagabi, it was a promo for early buyers and wala daw silang promo for the Flame 2.0 with free powerbank. FAIL!
mario says:
ako pa ang nagmukhang sinungaling.
weww says:
Dodong Abnoy says:
Woah, it exceeds HTC One X’s antutu benchmark. Haters gonna hate :)
narokius says:
guys i know this is a flame thread,so scuse lng, just wanna point something out. if the CM guys made the omega unit as is + a quadcore, knowing the fact that it has 2100 mah batt, this would be selling like hotcakes in the market and vice versa, if they made the camera pixel a bit higher for flame plus a “BIG MOMMA” battery(yung tipong kahit 2100mah din) this will sell big as well, i know they are just rebranding the unit, well, since they have initiated the re-branding, why not modify it as well for us consumers,, am i right??
Be open minded says:
cguro magkaroon ng review about flame 2.0 at cgurado na sasabhin na break down d2 ay ang battery.. masasabi nyu ba na wla syang pambili o reklamador sya?? kung sasabhin nyong oo close minded ka.. its a feedback coming from a costumer or potential costumer.. at kelangan un ng bwat kumpanya pra mas mag improve pa cla..

For those who wanted higher bat capacity, wait nyo ang model na ito,
Karbonn Titanium S5. Baka i-rebrand din (sana) ng CM as flame 3.0. Sana lang naman.
I have a flare and ang bat na full charge sa umaga, hindi pa lubog ang araw, 20% na lang natitira. Moderate use lang yan.
Chico says:
Sana i rebrand as Flare 2.0 .. :) para umastig naman ang flare.. OMEGA has an HD, Flame has 2.0 si flare sana may upgrade din..
Jude says:
@Alex C. Sorry. di ko nabasa agad post mo. Inulit ko lang sinabi mo.
Anyway, wait ko talaga ang flame 2.0. Ibigay ko sa anak as gift ko para sa kanya for a few honors he got in school this year. Can’t afford ako ng samasung. hehehe. CM lang kaya ko…
Alex Claridad says:
If you are not satisfied with CMF2 wail for the rebranded Karbonn Titanium S5 baka yun yung Flame3, 8meg yun back cam, 2meg yun front.
r3JAM says:
Sana di mag ka ubusan and sana aside sa power bank may option sila for a higher capacity battery…
CM Hater says:
Madaling msira CM phones, Add lng kyo 19500 my Note 2 n kyo. S widget ako nk bili.. S Nov. Note 3 nmn..
Reply n mga kups…
Mr. Concerned says:
I pity you child. Good day.
anonymous says:
Tang ina mo sana ma-Snatch yang Note 2 mo pakyu!
ambrosio makalalag says:
hirap nga akong maka ipon ng 7k pagkatapos bibili pa ako ng note 2? my god!
jeff says:
mas ok sana kung at least 2megapixel yung front cam then above 1,600mAh ang battery for the price of not more than Php5k
tsupol says:
thumbs up..parang nakamamahaling phone na din..para sa mga di pa afford ng iphone or s3,pwede na to..
weryou@ says:
Not bad for the price tag.
miongb says:
This is easily the most fluid and responsive cherry mobile phone i’ve ever seen.
anti-reklamador says:
sa mga reklamador dyan gumawa kau ng sarili nyong cp. tutal “magagalng” naman kau. the fact na bnuksan m un thread na to means ur “interested” e d sa “gsmarena” kau pra may “tatak”
mang kanor says:
Or worse, Galaxy Ace.
Kya you have the freedom of choice db?
boyet65 says:
if we look at how the development of the quality of the phones that cherry mobile is releasing, it seems that they have constantly improved a lot.
you get what you pay for, sabi nga nila. why do people keep on asking for too much. i mean, cherry mobile isn’t exactly selling expensive phones. it’s not samsung or htc or what have you. besides, it’s not an open secret that even the well known, higher end phones have issues too.
naghahanap ang mga tao ng mga features or specs na usually available lang sa mga mas mahal na phones. bakit di na lang yun ang bilhin? as simple as that. babalik lang din dun sa saying na you get what you pay for.
Nines says:
That’s one big top and bottom bezels.. making the phone much longer than the norms. The real quad core from snapdragon.. Very nice benchmark results. :) The only concern here is the battery.. But with the freebie included, I guess it’s still a win.
gray says:
when you say until may 31, hindi siya tulad ng ibang promo ng cm na first 50, am i right?
fullbringer says:
CriticalPink says:
1. Mataas battery
2. Maganda ang after sales service
3. May stock
4. 95% walang hidden defect
parker's disease says:
tanod says:
eh paano di yan di magrereklamo, walang pero pambili yan kahit flare. di mo pa nga naiibusisi dami mo ng sat-sat! wah wah wah…
parker porker says:
dude! you only get what you pay for! ano ba ineexpect mo? i mean thats 7 freakin k! compared sa ibang brands. walang stock kasi mataas demands and don’t be hater. if it’s not for you then no need to act like cherry mobile owes you anything. anyway i’m not a cm fan. comment nga ng isang tao somewhere online.
