Cherry Mobile Flare 3 vs ASUS Zenfone 4: Specs comparison

In this article we pit the local Cherry Mobile Flare 3 against the international brand ASUS and its Zenfone 4. They both have local prices of sub-4K but who has the best bang for the buck? We find out in this comparison of specs.

flare-3-specs-zenfone-4-specs_1

Correction: The Zenfone 4’s battery capacity is 1600mAh and not 1200mAh.

Summary of advantages:

CM Flare 3:
*Bigger display
*Higher resolution
*More cores clocked at slightly higher speed
*Rear and front cameras have more pixel count
*Larger battery capacity
*Latest UI out of the box
*Better display (OGS and scratch-free)

ASUS Zenfone 4:
*More pixels per inch

Both are equal in:
*RAM
*Internal storage
*External storage
*SIM capacity

Clearly, the Cherry Mobile Flare 3 packs beefier specs than its rival who carries a similar price. While the other one is locally-branded but sports good internals, the other one is an international brand known for its durability and performance.

What is the actual performance? After 3 weeks of use may lag na ba? Dead pixel?

update this comparison, cm flare 3 vs zenfone 4 a450cg.. the latter. has bigger 4.5 inch display, bigger battery capacity, rear camera with led flash.. but non removable battery..

I agree to this. ZenUI is so much better than the stock Android UI found on CM Phones.UI modifications/Software should be considered. Hindi porket higher version e better na.

I own a zenfone 4 and it has gorilla glass 3. I still need to install a screen protector. If it aint gorilla glass 3, my zenfone 4 should have swirls already in just a few days, that is from putting it inside my pocket and don’t forget that it’s fingerprint prone screen so every now and then i wipe it, but no swirls at the moment and still scratch free.

    • Avatar for rmrhsit rmrhsit says:

No, the Zenfone 4 really has no Gorilla Glass 3. It was announced at launch, BUT the glass used is not just any cheap glass. It is a glass which will last you long enough until your next upgrade. :)

    • Avatar for Zidane Zidane says:

Yup! Zenfone 4 has Gorilla Glass 3. And it has removable 1600mAh battery, too. Kung iko-compare talaga sa test performance, Asus Zenfone 4 is better than Cherry Mobile 3

LoL!

  7. Avatar for Zobel Zobel says:

Sabi na nga ba hindi pahuhuli ang CM. Can’t wait sa panlaban nila sa Zenfone 5.

and you just referred to a phone as WHO.

Do they both have multi-touch screens? I was gonna buy the zenfone when flare 3 came out… and then this comparison!!! I am now torn between them two… I had the very first CM Flare and I had great experience with it, didn’t have much problem, so after sales wasn’t really an issue. My mom’s still using and enjoying it now. ^_^
Maybe a stress test of both devices will tell them totally apart. :)

    • Avatar for rmrhsit rmrhsit says:

Get the Zenfone 4. Not being ASUS-natic, but in the long run, this will be your best bang for the buck.

I am a CM Flare owner and my phone works good until now. February 2013 pa to nasakin. Although, napaservice center na dahil na dead siya before mag 1 year, nakuha ko naman in less than a month sa CM. Sa ASUS, I bought an ASUS Fonepad 7 two weeks ago. I demand for replacement dahil main board problema ng unit ko na nagappear two weeks after ko nabili. And the store says, I need to wait 1-2 weeks for just the product to be replaced. Tapos upto 4 weeks if repair kasi ibang bansapa manggaling ang part sabi ng mismong service center. Depende siguro sa store na pagbiblhan mo if international brand.

The battery of Zenfone4 is not correct, should be 1600mAh.

  11. Avatar for gpr gpr says:

Sir, pa clarify lang po kung anu gpu nitong flare 3. mali 400 mp or mali 400 mp2? saka ung mHz din nya. May clear difference po kasi sa performance ng dalawa

    • Avatar for Kevin Bruce Francisco Kevin Bruce Francisco says:

      Hi, it’s Mali-400MP.

    • Avatar for gpr gpr says:

Then its clear, this is a downgrade from the original mali400mp2 of mtk8582/m socs. Price to specs is just ryt, not the bang for the buck. Please do a gaming review comparo of this 2 handsets, tnx.

    1,980mAh battery for a 5″ screen with Quad-core CPU?
You won’t last half a day without even charging once. In short, you will need
a powerbank as your companion if you plan to own this device.

I just hope that they add a little more juice on that device (like 2,500mAh or so).

    • Avatar for butchoy butchoy says:

it’s qHD, so it will be fine. most phones today have 2000mah and those are running quads or octas at 720p even some 1080p.

  13. Avatar for Daves Daves says:

Personally, I’m curious how both phones perform when maybe…pushed to their limits? Anyone?

  14. Avatar for chandler chandler says:

Ganda nga specs nyan cm flare 3 pagdating naman sa after sales svc parang blockbuster lagi pila sa svc center.wala din.Durability and good after sales svc ang isa ring basehan. And asus is known for these 2.

  15. Avatar for Lester Lester says:

    I still go for ASUS.
    That summarizes CM experience.

    • Avatar for rido rido says:

Yea, Asus has a better name recall and value but I heard the Zenfones don’t have backlight on their menu buttons. If it’s true that’s terrible. I can imagine the trouble in finding the back or home buttons in dark places.

    • Avatar for Allain Allain says:

Try mo kaya imemorize ang placement ng buttons madilim na cguro ang paningin mo :))

  17. Avatar for Xzi Xzi says:

If the GPU is MP2 it means its a Dual Core GPU
gaming wise the zenfone 4 is better

  18. Avatar for Harhar Harhar says:

I think the rival of flare 3 is not zen phone 4 but zenphone 5, this is ridiculous comparison yugatech.

  19. Avatar for Christian Christian says:

For this one, I have to give it up to Flare 3 (based on spec sheet alone). Its battery size, IPS + OGS display (against TFT) and slightly higher resolution is very critical.

On another note, I (and the article) haven’t considered other factors such as aftersales service in judging.

Zenfone 4 is really nice, I love that its fast in browsing and playing videos. Although until now there is no kitkat update which is quite disappointing :(

    • Avatar for Typical Typical says:

Masyado madami restriction ang kitkat, di rin naman bibilis ang unit mo ng todo kapag na update sa kitkat. For me mas ok pa 4.3
