Cherry Mobile Flare S4 Plus hands-on, first impressions

Cherry Mobile has introduced yesterday the newest members of the Flare lineup and leading the pack is the Flare S4 Plus with its 5.5-inch Full HD display, MediaTek octa-core CPU, 3GB RAM, and Android Lollipop.

The Flare S4 Plus is basically a phablet with its 5.5-inch display. It’s not an ordinary display, though, as it sports a Full HD display which equates to 400ppi. It also features One Glass Solution (OGS) and IPS panel which make it appear crisp and vibrant with good viewing angles. On top of that is Dragontrail glass for protection which is proven to withstand heavy scratches, both intentional and unintentional.

Situated right above the display is the receiver, the 8 megapixel camera, and light sensor. Down below are three capacitive buttons for navigation and microphone. Noticeable here are the black bezels surrounding the display margined by the white top and bottom parts of the device. When the display is off, it gives the illusion that the Flare S4 Plus has a larger screen.

The Flare S4 Plus features aluminum sides to give the device a premium feel. Found on the left are the trays for the SIM and microSD card. On the right are the buttons for the volume and power/lock. Found right up top is the headset jack while down at the bottom are the microUSB port and loudspeaker.

Found right at the back are 16 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and the Flare and Cherry Mobile branding. On hand, the Flare S4 Plus feels solid and nice to hold for a device with a large screen. The plastic back is smooth and glossy while the metal sides are a bit textured which aids grip.

Cherry Mobile Flare S4 Plus specs:
5.5-inch FHD OGS IPS display @ 1980 x 1020 resolution, 400ppi
