Just last year, Cherry Mobile announced an interesting smartphone that features a dual screen display with E-ink screen on its back. It took quite a while before they’d release it but meet the Cherry Mobile Taiji.
As you can see, the device’s construction pretty much resembles the iPhone 5 though a bit larger and thicker. Its front screen sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Below it, there are three capacitive buttons but the back and overview button are invisible and we find this a bit troubling as it can cause confusion to other users.
Up top, you can see the 8MP front camera along with a sensor. Upon trying it out, we were impressed that it can take good selfies.
Located on the left side is the hybrid SIM tray. We noticed that inserting the SIM tray to its original place feels a little bit awkward as it doesn’t go in as smoothly as other hybrid SIM trays do. While on the right are the power/lock button and volume keys. Sadly, the power/lock button is unresponsive sometimes.
On the bottom, we have a pair of antenna bands, micro-USB port, 3.5mm audio port, and speaker grille.
Flip on its back and you will see the E-ink screen, and the 13MP autofocus rear camera w/ LED flash. Honestly, upon using the E-ink screen for a while, we experienced its unresponsiveness and we had a hard time figuring it out as it constantly freezes from time to time.
The Cherry Mobile Taiji feels solid on the hands, thanks to its metallic body. However, users should be careful as its metallic sides are sensitive to scratches.
Cherry Mobile Taiji specs:
5.2-inch IPS LCD @ 1920 x 1080 pixels
4.7-inch E-Ink rear display

32GB internal storage
13MP autofocus rear camera w/ LED flash
8MP front camera
Dual SIM
4G LTE

The Cherry Mobile Taiji has a suggested retail price of Php12,999.

Interesting indeed but what’s exactly the purpose of the 2nd screen? The main screen is bigger and more comfortable to read.
Im pretty sure the gimmicky 2nd screen jacked up the price of this phone. But what for?
neeeeehaoooo says:
Upper crust? Cherry Mobile?

This is funny, ung isa walang alam pero nagyabang. Habang ung isa naman may alam at nagyabang din.

I am simply aghast at the depths of ignorance displayed by your post. Are you a simpleton sir? Perhaps (I am going to give you the benefit of doubt), you were accidentally dropped on your head as a child (accidents both natural and genetic are just some of the burdens we have to endure in this imperfect world)?
The second screen is for reading eBooks (E-ink screens are more legible in natural light, as well as more power efficient-unlike you, odious git). It’s made for a more discerning audience in the cellphone market (upper crust, stiff lipped buggers you know?) . Not suitable for your simple pedestrian needs, so stop asking about its use. You won’t need it, you’re obviously a part of the magazine crowd (Pictures are nice!). Damned plebeian rabble are everywhere. *Sniff!*

lollipop? seriously? hahaha
