Firefly Mobile introduces another premium looking handset — Aurii Secret

Following the release of Aurii Envy and after a number of teases, Firefly Mobile has finally introduced the new member of the Aurii line of premium looking Android devices for the Philippine market — the Aurii Secret.

The Aurii Secret trails on the tracks of its sibling, the Envy, with about the same aluminum construction but with more curves. Here’s the unveiling video of the brand posted on their social media pages:

Dissecting the video shows us what to expect from the Aurii Secret, both inside and out. First, it uses a toughened aluminum alloy frame for the body complete with chamfered edges. While the front is flat, its back is curved towards the sides similar to the Galaxy Note 5.

Second, it sports a 5″ HD display which gives a respectable 294ppi. It didn’t mention what panel is used but we suspect it to be just an IPS LCD.

Third, it has a 13MP rear shooter using a Sony IMX258 sensor beneath a 6-layer wide-angle lens. For the front, it has an 8MP selfie camera.

Fourth, it’s equipped with a 3450mAh lithium battery. That’s pretty impressive for a 5-incher smartphone to have.

Fifth, its card slots are three — one microSD card and two SIMs.

Lastly, it’s powered by an octa-core chipset running at a pretty slow 1.3GHz. It’s paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. We’re assuming it’s the same MediaTek MT6753 chipset used with Envy.

Firefly Mobile Aurii Secret specifications:
5-inch OGS IPS display @ 1280 x 720 pixels, 294ppi
Corning Gorilla Glass 3
1.3GHz octa-core 64-bit processor
2GB RAM
16GB internal storage
Expandable via microSD, up to 128GB
13-megapixel Sony IMX258 f/2.0 rear camera w/ dual-tone LED flash
8-megapixel wide front-facing camera
Dual SIM
4G LTE
Wi-Fi 802.11ac
Bluetooth 4.0
GPS w/ a-GPS
USB OTG
3450mAh battery
Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Pricing and availability are yet to be announced so keep tabs for it. Since it’s got lower specs compared to Aurii Envy, it will be priced lower (maybe around 4k or 5k). We just can’t help but think if there will be available stocks for this one once it gets released because Envy is quite elusive for the actual purchase.

UPDATE (8/18/16 2:50PM) – It will be available by September 2016. A Lite version was also announced here.

firefly mobile has one major flaw – no noise cancellation feature. you can barely hear the person on the other end of the call when you’re in a crowded place, unless you’re using a headset or earphones connected to it.
