The next set of Samsung foldables is set to be unveiled soon at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26th.
In the lead-up to the big reveal, Samsung Romania let slip a minor hiccup: the price of the Galaxy Z Flip5 was accidentally leaked—apparently, with a hefty price hike.
Samsung Romania was holding a promotion to give away 10 Galaxy Z Flip5 devices to people who pre-registered. The document where they posted state the terms and conditions for the promotion, also happens to spill the price of the said devices to be given away.
The writeup written in Romanian, stated that the Galaxy Z Flip5 (256GB variant) will run RON 6,599 as compared to last year’s Z Flip4 at RON 5,700. The price increase is RON 899 (or about PHP 11K in today’s conversion).
For reference, last year’s Z Flip4 (256GB) was priced at PHP 62,990.
Pricing still varies among different territories. Thus, this may not accurately represent the actual amount of the price increase, presuming the document from Samsung Romania is to be believed.
Nevertheless, given the rising prices of various consumer electronics, a price hike from Samsung, specifically in its foldables, is likely to be expected.
