Geely reportedly in talks to purchase Meizu

Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group is reportedly in talks to purchase smartphone maker Meizu Technology, allowing the former to expand into the smartphone business.

Details about the acquisition remain scarce and no confirmation was received as of writing. Last year, Geely has launched a new company called Hubei Xingji Shidai Technology Co. Ltd in Wuhan to develop smartphones and other smart devices. The acquisition of Meizu will certainly bring in talents and other resources like R&D to bolster the business.

Although things are yet to be official, it’s exciting to see a carmaker expand to the smartphone business. We might also see new innovations integrating cars and mobile devices.
