Google Nexus Prime is very real; and made by Samsung

This little conversation about the Google Nexus Prime I had yesterday with a telco guy was actually made in passing. We were all talking about the iPhone 5 and the slew of tablets that was announced in IFA last week and the topic just popped up.

I can’t really remember the exact words but here’s how it went (roughly):

YugaTech: “I think the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is going to be a fierce challenger to the iPad. I believe it will even force Apple to make their own 7-inch iPad too.”

Telco guy: “You know what’s even more cool? The Nexus Prime.

YugaTech: “Wait! What? You personally saw one?”

Telco guy: “Yup, it was shown to me. Really liked it a lot I didn’t even want to give it back.”

YugaTech: “No way! So, is it made by Samsung?”

Telco guy: “Yup! And it runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich too.”

YugaTech: “Damn! Samsung’s got a back to back with Google on the Nexus phone.”

Other telco guys on the table: “Wait, what’s that? Ateneo got back-to-back?”

And the conversation drifted off to many other topics.

First mention of the Google Nexus Prime was sometime back in June with BGR reported it.

confirmed specs for nexus prime – Google Nexus Prime is 4.6 inches of Super AMOLED HD delight with resolution of 720p. A 5MP camera captures video at 1080p and a 1MP front facing camera is also aboard. Under the hood is a TI OMAP 4460 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM

Meron na agad yung telco guy ng ice cream sandwich android fon??? I saw sa internet na sa October or November pa official release ng Ice Cream Sandwich mobile OS.

since this sir Abe talking, i will believe his story…
now i am officially excited with nexus prime…
i am 100% sure it would be better than iphone 5

but I’m actually more excited with ice cream sandwich. Google has been too silent with what new features ICS would bring aside from the hardware accelerated UI and the integration of honeycomb and gingerbread… the long wait is killing me…

On other news, I have confirmed the existence of an iPhone 4S. Yes, it won’t be an iPhone 5, but an iPhone 4S!

Here’s what happened… I was on the table speaking to someone from Apple…

Me: I think the iPad rocks! The next one probably will be even better because of the Retina display.
Apple Guy: You know what’s cooler? The iPhone 4S.
Me: What? There’s an iPhone 4S?! That’s SOOO COOOL!!!
Apple Guy: Yeah, it even runs a new version of iOS… iOS6.
Me: That’s crazy cool!
Other Apple Guys on the table: Shhhh! Don’t spill the beans just yet!

OT: LG has OPTIMUS and Samsung has PRIME. Can’t wait to see Megatron and Bumblebee. :)

Seriously, if this comes out shortly before or after the next iPhone, it would be an interesting battle of the smart phones. :)
