Let’s now look at the third model that HONOR Philippines is releasing in the country, the HONOR X8. It has similar specs to the X9 like the large 6.7-inch screen with 90Hz refresh rate, quad-rear cameras, and the Snapdragon 680 chipset. All of that is housed in a cool design. Read our first impressions below.
Having tried the Magic4 Pro and the X9, the X8 offers a different appeal in terms of design. Instead of curved bodies, the X8 has a boxier frame with flat sides, which reminds you of the iPhone’s design. Great for those who prefer that look.
The screen is still large at 6.7-inches. The Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate are retained. While it’s a step down from the X9, we’re glad to see that it still has slim bezels with a tiny hole-punch for an immersive viewing experience and a modern look.
On the left is the card tray for two nano-sized SIM cards.
On the right is the power/lock button that also works as a fingerprint scanner, and the volume rocker.
Up top, we have the earpiece and the microphone.
Down below are the microphone, USB-C, loudspeaker, and 3.5mm audio jack, which is good news for those who want to plug their favorite wired headset without having to use an adapter.
At the back, we have the protruding camera module that houses the 64MP main, 5MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth. Right in the middle is the LED flash. If this looks familiar, that is because the design is similar to the design that Huawei used for the nova 8 SE. It’s not a bad thing, though, as it looks nice.
From this side, we can see the matte glass finish in Titanium Silver. This one is more repellant to fingerprints and smudges compared to the X9. There’s no curved glass here. Just flat and simple. Minimalistic yet elegant. Like the appeal of Apple’s Pro models. We actually like putting it face down on our desk just so we can see and appreciate the design more.
Powering the HONOR X8 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset with Adreno 610 GPU, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. For the battery, we have a smaller 4,000mAh capacity with support for 22.5W fast charging.
The HONOR X8 with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at PHP 12,990.
