Today, HTC announced the release of the HTC Touch Pro in the Philippines, a smartphone explicitly catering to business and power users. The phone has also taken the top spot of the phone price chart.
Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, the HTC Touch Pro supports quad-band GSM with HSDPA (up to 7.2Mbps), WiFi 802.11 b/g, a 2.8-inch touch screen display, full qwerty keyboard that slides out the back, a 3.2 MP camera (+ frontal facing VGA camera for 3G calls), FM radio and GPS. MicroSD slot allows you to expand storage to 16GB.
The phone runs on a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM 7201A with 512MB ROM and 288MB RAM. There’s a TV-out port which allows you to run Powerpoint presentations thru a projector with only the phone in tow. It’s really a business phone so they’ve packed tons of business apps in here – Opera Mobile, MS Outlook Mobile, IE Mobile, MS Office Mobile, Windows Media Player 10, Adobe Reader, ZIP, JetCET Print 5, WorldCard Mobile (to read and store business cards on the fly) and a dedicated YouTube player.
The HTC Touch Pro will be available in local stores by middle of September. And the price tage that made it to the top of our charts — Php50,800 (~USD$1,100) .

marianne: if you want to play games on HTC Touch, opt for Touch Pro, you can use the keyboard for gaming. Touch HD doesn’t have multi-touch, there is no way for game developers to implement game controls on screen. if i will not use Touch Pro as a gaming device or Playstation emulator, Touch HD would be impossible for me to resist. 800×480 (vs iPhone’s 480×320 only) screen area is nice for net browsing, plus 5 megapixel camera, and non-proprietary headphone jack
pasaway says:
dont buy. htc warranty sucks bigtime. you are gonna regret it.
Arni says:
Hi! I bought an HTC Touch Pro from my friend for only P46,000 with one year warranty. Also included is a screen protector and leather case which is better than those included in the Touch Pro retail box. She’s also selling other HTC units. You may contact me at 091781***** if you’re interested.

I think it is wiser to buy this phone in the US. It is around $250-$300 there.

Oriental Artemis says:
Wow. Ah well, never liked it from the beginning.
Yuga, any news on the BlackBerry Bold arriving here?
Abe Olandres says:
@Tech Box PH – yup, I think it’s WordText Systems Inc.
makr says:
It’s too damn expensive!!
& cnet.com just gave it a mediocre rating… would rather get the samsung omnia for less.
Tech Box Philippines says:
Abe,
Is WSI the new disti for HTC?
Boy Mejorada says:
very tempting, but very expensive. i don’t think it is practical for that kind of price tag…
necromuncher says:
waaat?? 50k? I might buy this thing maybe when i got paid on my upcoming extra jobs.. lol
rzeronine says:
i will definitely buy this when it comes out.
Erin says:
@jhay, it should as they are from the same maker. :)
and at least i now have an idea on how much the SEX1 is going to cost (meaning really way out of my budget). :(
ciao!
jhay says:
Like a laptop for 50k. Though the phone reminds me of the Sony Ericsson X1.
Yoe del Barrio says:
WTF….uhhhh no thanks. Aside from the fact that I can get a cheaper smart phone, there are better things I can get with 50k.
