Huawei has confirmed that their new Kirin 980 flagship chip will power the upcoming Mate 20 series.
According to a press release obtained by Gearburn and Android Authority, Huawei CEO Richard Yu confirmed to the media that the Kirin 980 chipset will be officially unveiled at IFA 2018.
The Kirin 980 chip succeeds the Kirin 970 and boasts to be the “first commercially available 7nm chip in the world.” Details of the said flagship chipset are yet to be released but it is expected to pack more power yet efficient at the same time. The Huawei Mate 20 series will be the first devices to sport such chipset and is expected to be unveiled alongside it.
