Two Android phones and a tablet — that’s what’s else we saw at the Huawei booth earlier this week during CommunicAsia. Two of the top 3 Android smartphones, the Ideos X5 and X3, as well as the Ideos S7 Slim (predecessor of the MediaPad).
The Ideos X3 is the nicest-looking of them all, and reminds me of the HTC Wildfire, with its very thin frame of just 9.9mm.
The specs are somewhat entry-level but it’s got Gingerbread out of the box.
Huawei Ideos X3 U8510
Qualcomm MSM7227 600 MHz
3.2″ display @ 320×480 pixels
256MB RAM
up to 32GB via microSD
HSDPA, HSUPA
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot
Bluetooth 2.1
3.15MP camera
Li-Po battery 1200mAh
9.9mm thin
Android 2.3 Gingerbread
The Ideos X5 is more plasticky (didn’t like the shape and design) but is the more capable handset compared to the X3. It’s also running on Froyo and not Gingerbread, which is weird since the X3 is on it already.
Huawei Ideos X5 U8800
3.8″ display @ 480×800 pixels
800MHz Scorpion processor
Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM 7230 chipset
512MB RAM
2GB & 4GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD card
HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 2Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
5MP autofocus camera with LED flash
720p video recording @ 30fps
GPS w/ aGPS support
Li-Po battery 1500 mAh
Android 2.2 Froyo
The Ideos S7 Slim seems to be a re-fresh of the original S7 we’ve seen being giving away by Globe with Plan 999. The S7 Slim has an updated Froyo OS, higher battery capacity less the kick-stand at the back.
Huawei Ideos S7 Slim
7″ display @ 480×800 pixels
1 GHz Scorpion processor,
Adreno 200 GPU, Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon chipset
512MB RAM
up to 32GB via microSD card
HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 2Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
2MP camera
Bluetooth 2.1
GPS w/ aGPS support
Li-Ion battery 3250 mAh
Android 2.2 Froyo
Huawei’s Android devices, both the smartphones and the tablet, are among the most affordable as we’ve seen from the first once that came to the local market. I’m sure these will find their way in the Philippines some time later this year.

The specs of Huawei Ideos S7 Slim looks promising. Although I’m not quite sure with its Froyo OS version. That’s upgradable, right?
