So it looks like Cherry Mobile is not the only one to bring out an affordable 4.1″, 1GHz Snapdragon, Android 2.2 powered smartphone to the market. Huawei launched the Ideos X6 and should be out in Hong Kong first before landing to the Philippines.
The Huawei Ideos X6 is basically the same, exact phone as the one recently launched Cherry Mobile Magnum HD.
We’re all familiar with Huawei as they manufacture a lot of telco devices like USB dongles, the MiFi and WiMax modems we’ve seen with Globe, Smart and Sun.
What’s un-clear is if they manufactured this phone by themselves or just licensed it from another OEM just like what Cherry Mobile did. I’m leaning towards the latter. In any case, at least we know this particular model has some reliable genealogy {via}.

I have read some nice feedbacks about the cherry superion. If only they could bring the price down to 15t or less, maybe il sell my iphone for that amount and buy a new cherry magnum.
john says:
Huawei?

@jayel
did some checking too, hopefully it’s just a typo & what they actually mean is a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor, also powering the HTC Desire HD. If it is, then we would expect its performance to be a little greater than the Samsung Galaxy S..
islacom says:
how much is this huawei mirror mode of the desire HD?
cheaper sana
Eee says:
Huawei ka na lang kaysa Cherry Mobile. Atleast sikat na brand ang Huawei.
kathy says:
Its the same processor as the HTC Desire HD for a more affordable price!
kathy says:
@ Jayel did some checking and the processor used by Magnum HD is the latest snapdragon processor also used by HTC Desire HD!

jayel says:
I’m kinda confused Cherry mobile posted that the Magnum HD is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8225-1 Snapdragon processor – as far as i know that processor does not exist maybe it’s a typo. What’s guess abe?

Pusang Kulog says:
Still waiting for a review of CM Magnum HD… Would love to read a review of this unit also. Looks like there’s a growing flow of gadgets for the average Filipino consumer. And it’s a good thing actually if these gadgets will perform better than what we usually get at Raon, Divisoria, Recto, Avenida, and other like-places…
Arvee says:
Please tumigil naman yung ugaling squatter diyan. Mura ka ng mura ikaw naman mali.
Yung OEM ng Cherry Mobile Magnum is located at China.
Therefore, brandname lang ng Magnum ang pinoy. The rest, all chinese. I’m not so sure pero siguro nasa >30% of the price lang kita ng CM sa Magnum.
jason says:
kathy says:
As per gsmarena the Huawei version will be available on Jan 2011, for Cherry Mobile Magnum HD around Nov. or early december according to some blogs. So most likely they get it from the same OEM. Either Huawei or Cherry as long as they can bring affordable quality products then i am all for it. But Huawei is not so visible or present here in Phils.
jason says:
mr.bogus says:
another stupid p.r. man of cherry like jan……
about cherry mobile:
bad after sales!!!!!
raymond says:
jan says:
im generally refering to all only filipino things
IC DeaDPiPoL says:
couldn’t care less about the nationality as long as they provide good aftersales support in the event the device fails within the warranty
Eason says:
@Jan : Chinese National po may ari ng Cherry Mobile :D
skagen says:
nice a new phone coming out.
jan says:
@eason its not important kung saan gawa, ang importante hindi ibang lahi ang nakikinabang sa pera mo kundi kapwa mong pango ilong
Eason says:
One reason why people should stop saying that Cherry Mobile is proudly Pinoy. Because its just an OEM brand.
Arvee says:
Well yes, Huawei is a trusted brand. But if this one came from the same OEM of Magnum, they’ll have the same quality and durability as well. Sa brand name (price, availability, after sales support) nalang nagkakatalo.
Caloy says:
cool, another Android running on 2.2 with a 4.1″ screen and 1 GHz processor!
I can’t wait to see the comments! If the thread on the Cherry Mobile phone was any indication, I’m sure this thread is gonna be entertaining again!
Hopefully those based in Hong Kong can give us a heads up once it’s available there.
JunAlquis says:
now the question would be… which is cheaper?.
JP says:
Wow, Huawei is comparable to Foxconn when it comes to durability. This is a good move indeed.
