So, what did Huawei change with the Mate 20 Pro from the Mate 10 Pro?
In terms of design, Huawei implemented a notch design in the Mate 20 Pro which the Mate 10 Pro doesn’t have. Another thing to note is it has a square-like rear camera setup which, personally, looks cleaner and more organized.
Looking at the display, we see that the Mate 20 Pro has a larger screen size, aspect ratio, resolution but retaining the same OLED panel. These changes are actually great especially for users who are fond of watching and streaming videos.
The Kirin 980 is Huawei’s latest flagship chipset that is equipped in the Mate 20 Pro. We also made an initial AnTuTu benchmark result which yielded a 33% increased score as compared with the P20 Pro equipped with the Kirin 970 — the same chipset that the Mate 10 Pro has (Check it out here). This simply means that the former has a faster and better performance in terms of CPU and gaming capabilities.
One major upgrade is the Mate 20 Pro’s Leica triple camera set up. It is significantly superior in terms of camera features and capabilities than the Mate 10 Pro. The former also comes with an Underwater shooting mode and an AI portrait color mode along with other features that we’ll discuss once our full review is out.
The front shooter of the Mate 20 Pro has a significantly higher resolution than the Mate 10 Pro so you can expect sharper selfies with it. Not to mention it also has support for 3D Live Emojis thanks to the 3D Depth Sensing camera.
Huawei is full of jabs and surprises, and by jabs, I mean they took a full swing at Apple’s iPhone Xs series. The Mate 20 Pro now supports wireless charging and even comes with a new wireless reverse charging, which is really cool. It also has a larger battery by 200mAh so we’re expecting a better battery life. We’ll know once our full review is out.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is priced at EUR1,049 (~Php65,500) while the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is currently priced at PHP 33,990. Local pricing of the Mate 20 Pro is yet to be announced.
