The next Mate series lineup has surfaced since February, and today, HUAWEI officially announced that the Mate 50 Series will be introduced on September 6 in China via its new product conference with the initial theme “Break out of the dawn, meet at the peak.”
Aside from its official poster, HUAWEI has not yet divulged any other information about the Mate 50 Series, but the graphic teases a prominent feature of its lineup.
Recent leaks suggest that the Mate 50 Series will come with four models: on the high-end tier are the Mate50 Pro and Mate50 RS, the vanilla Mate50, and the Mate 50E all equipped with HUAWEI’s proprietary HiSilicon neural processing unit (NPU) alongside Qualcomm Snapdragon CPUs with HarmonyOS.
The said models reportedly slated to sport first-gen XMAGE—HUAWEI’s new imaging technology—as an in-house replacement after its Leica breakup. The devices will have triple rear camera setup each, and is said to feature an adjustable aperture (f/1.4 – f/4) for the 50MP main sensor.
The Mate 50E is said to have the Snapdragon 778G (limited to 4G connectivity) while the rest will have Snapdragon 8 Gen1 (with 5G support). The HUAWEI Mate50 RS is said to have a ceramic build while the rest will have a glass and metal sandwich body.
Furthermore, the Mate 50 series will have BOE-made AMOLED displays, with the Pro and RS variants allegedly sporting curved 120Hz 6.78-inch LTPO displays, while the vanilla version and 50E will have flat 90Hz LTPS displays.
Regarding their battery details, all will support up 66W charging speed with 4400mAh capacity on the vanilla and 50E models, and with 4500mAh on the Pro and RS models.
“After two years, Mate 50 is finally going to meet you! The Mate series is the reason why many consumers fall in love with Huawei mobile phones, and it carries the belief and hope of many people,” (in Chinese) said Yu Chengdong, CEO HUAWEI Consumers Business Group in a Weibo post.
