Summary of Advantages

Huawei Y7p

  • 2.5D Curved display
  • Higher external memory compatibility
  • Higher main camera resolution

Realme 5

  • Slightly bigger display
  • More RAM and storage options
  • Dedicated Macro and Portrait lenses
  • High-resolution front camera
  • Higher battery capacity

Starting with the display, both are using an IPS panel with an HD+ resolution. The Realme 5 is slightly bigger, measuring 6.5 inches vs. 6.39 inches on the Huawei Y7p. To house the front camera, the Huawei Y7p is using a less intrusive, punch hole-design, while the Realme 5 uses a notch. If screen size is more important to you and you don’t mind the notch, then the Realme 5 is the better bet.

When it comes to performance, the Kirin 710F has a better CPU, but the Snapdragon 665 has a better GPU. That being said, the overall performance of both phones should be close to each other. As for RAM and storage, the Huawei Y7p comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. On the other hand, the Realme 5 comes in either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and 32, 64, or 128GB of storage. Fortunately, the Huawei Y7p can be expanded with a 512GB external SD card, whereas the Realme 5 can only be fitted with an SD card up to 256GB. We’re giving the Realme 5 the win here for having more variants.

Moving onto the cameras, the Huawei Y7p is equipped with a 48MP primary, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP depth sensor. Meanwhile, the Realme 5 comes with a quad-rear setup composed of a 12MP primary, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP portrait, and a 2MP macro camera. The Huawei Y7p’s primary camera has a higher resolution, but the Realme 5 is more versatile thanks to its dedicated portrait and macro lens. As for the selfie cameras, the Huawei Y7p is equipped with an 8MP shooter, while the Realme 5 comes with a 13MP one. Due to the Realme 5’s versatility, and higher resolution front camera, it takes the cake in the camera segment.

In terms of security, both devices have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock features. A bonus for the Realme 5, is its inclusion of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Software-wise, the Huawei Y7p comes with EMUI 9.1, while the Realme 5 comes with ColorOS 6 out of the box – both of which are based on Android 9 Pie. What might turn people away from the Huawei Y7p, however, is its lack of Google Mobile Services.

As for connectivity, both phones can use two Nano SIMs, have 4G LTE connectivity, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and the same GPS capabilities. In terms of battery capacity, the Realme 5 comes with a beefier battery, rated for 5,000mAh whereas the Huawei Y7p only comes with 4,000mAh. Both devices are capable of 10W charging.

Now let’s talk about pricing.

Huawei Y7p

  • 4GB + 64GB – PHP 9,990USD 170INR 14,432EUR 162CNY 1,240

Realme 5

  • 3GB + 32GB – PHP 6,990USD 119INR 10,098EUR 113CNY 867
  • 3GB + 64GB – PHP 7,990USD 136INR 11,542EUR 130CNY 992
  • 4G + 128GB – PHP 9,990USD 170INR 14,432EUR 162CNY 1,240

The Huawei Y7p is priced the same as the highest variant of the Realme 5, which has twice the amount of internal storage. The Realme 5 can also be purchased with less RAM and storage for a lower price.

Overall the Realme 5 still offers more value. It has a bigger display, more storage (for the same price), a dedicated portrait and macro lens, a bigger battery, and Google Mobile Services. However, if you like taking a lot of pictures on the primary camera, then the Huawei Y7p can be the better choice thanks to its 48MP primary camera with its supporting depth sensor. The Y7p is also a lot sleeker and lighter, therefore, more portable.

  1. Ang ganda nung Y7P, talo lang yung gms, you’ll have to sidejack it.
