A supposed leak of the new Nokia Lumia 920 with PureView was making the rounds since yesterday. This Windows Phone 8 handset will be Nokia’s flagship phone and packed with the PureView technology we’ve seen in the Nokia 808.
The 4.5-inch Lumia 920 phone will come in a variety of colors and will look more or less the same as the other previous Lumia handsets.
What folks are excited about is the PureView technology that is supposed to come with it. However, if you look at the rendering, the back side of the phone does not protrude much like the Nokia 808.
The camera of this Lumia 920 looks small and flat. The one for the 808 PureView is large and bulky because of the lens construction.
So the 808 was 41-megapixels so it’s possible the Lumia 920 might only be 8MP. If we follow the logic that the 808’s native pixel count is just 5MP (after PureView post-processing), then the Lumia’s 8MP would end up to be just 1MP (after post).
We have doubts about this Lumia 920 being PureView.

SO EGGZOITED!
chinitoguy says:
Abe has a point. Maybe its not the Lumia phone with Pureview technology but since its a Windows Phone it may be better than the current Lumia 900.
topgun says:
if it will come with atleast 21 MP camera then it could be a game changer for Nokia…
handoko says:
there’s a misconception that when one says “pureview” it immediately equates to a 41 megapixel bulky sensor. But actually pureview can also mean just a 21 megapixel slim sensor.
NeutralGuy says:
When I saw this I had the same idea, why is this too slim to start with. I highly doubted that this could be the real thing. It might be a fan-made render based on the leaks and rumors.
If ever 920 would have a pureview camera technology, it would come most probably with at least 16+megapixel. We can’t consider “8MP” to be on the pureview technology given the fact that the sensor is too small. If it is true that they would use 8MP, then pureview tech won’t be implemented. They would just go to the traditional way. A 12 MP could be considered. They would oversample two to three pixels to one.
Another thing is the LED flash that’s shown in this picture. To have good low light experience together with pureview tech, a XENON flash is a must. Though, a superbright LED could be use but that will result to not so pureview-y.
The better guess is that this was a fan-made.
And we must hope that they have used a 21MP sensor to a lumia.
Abe Olandres says:
That’s why I added that it could just be an 8MP lens with PureView that scales natively to 1MP.
Fleeb says:
Wouldn’t it make the handset way more expensive because of the sensor?
Abe Olandres says:
It was expensive on the 808 at 26k; I’m guessing it will hit more than 30k on the Lumia.
