Following on recent reports that Lenovo will drop its own brand in favor of the newly-acquired Motorola subsidiary, the company has cleared out that it will not do so.
Lenovo Group chairman and chief executive Yang Yuanqing told Reuters that such reports are false, and will be keeping the Lenovo brand on its mobile division despite the company’s reorganization, as a result of the loss they have incurred over the past year.
As you may recall, Chinese news outlets have picked up on rumors last November that Lenovo’s brand name will be solely intended for PCs this year, leaving its smartphone brand to Motorola and its strong lineup of mobile devices.
At least, we now have an assurance. “We will never phase out Lenovo,” Yang said.
