MediaTek has officially unveiled three new chipsets that are set for midrange and flagship devices to be released in the future.
First in line are the new Helio P20 and Helio P25 SoCs which are the successors to the popular P10 chipset favored by manufacturers for their affordable mid-range devices. They are an octa-core chipset with slightly faster CPU and GPU cores and are built on the 16nm process. It supports LPDDR4x RAM too for faster memory and supports up to 6GB. The P25 will have built-in support for dual camera setups with optical zoom ala iPhone 7 Plus and better image processing features.
The Helio X30, on the other hand, is the new flagship chipset from the company following its predecessor, Helio X20. The SoC is built on a more efficient 10nm process and has a total of 10 cores. It’s still a tri-cluster architecture with two 2.8GHz Cortex-A73 cores, four 2.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores, and another four 2.0GHz Cortex-A35 cores. As for the GPU, it has the PowerVR 7XTP-MT4 clocked at 850MHz. It supports LPDDR4x as well with up to 8GB of RAM, 4K @ 30fps recording, and LTE Cat10.
We expect the new chipsets to be out on devices soon.
