MediaTek launches the Helio P60 chipset

MediaTek has launched at the Mobile World Congress the Helio P60 chipset that combines Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), and AI Processing Unit (APU) in a heterogeneous AI-computing architecture.

The P60 is a 12-nanometer fabricated chip an octa-core CPU design on four ARM Cortex-A73 and four ARM Cortex-A53, with both speeds up to 2.0GHz, a Mali-G72 GPU that touts 70 percent better performance than previous generation Helio P series, a dedicated APU for all things related to artificial intelligence, and a new CorePilot 4.0 technology that optimizes the provides better device management including UX monitoring, task scheduling, and power-performance optimization.

It also supports Dual VoLTE, dual camera setups up to 20+16MP dual camera or 32MP single camera system at 30 frames per second with advanced exposure and focusing and a sophisticated hardware depth engine for real-time Bokeh preview, and a second-generation smart antenna technology that automatically detects or chooses the best antenna to use no matter how you hold the device or face it at any direction, saving battery consumption in the process.

MediaTek aims to introduce the Helio P60 chip to affordable smartphones as it will be available globally by Q2 2018.
