The Meizu M2, the company’s latest budget smartphone has finally reached our shores. It sports a 5-inch display with Dragontrail glass, MediaTek quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 13MP camera, Dual-LTE support, Android Lollipop-based Flyme OS. Find out our initial thoughts about this Php5.5K Android below.
First up, the unboxing:
When it comes to aesthetics, the Meizu M2 is something you wouldn’t take for a smartphone that costs around Php5K. It employs a simple design yet sleek, attractive and well-made at the same time.
Up front we have the 5-inch display mounted with Dragontrail glass. Above it are the earpiece 5MP camera. Down below is a physical home button that also supports capacitive touch.
That is because it also doubles as the Back key. Press to go Home, touch to go Back. In addition, it has a chrome lining which reminds us of smartphones with fingerprint scanners.
To the right are the volume and power buttons, while on the left is the hybrid SIM tray that can accommodate either two SIMs or one SIM and a microSD card.
Right up top is the headset jack, while down at the bottom are the microphone, loudspeaker, and the microUSB port.
Turn it on its back and you will see the 13MP camera, LED flash, and the Meizu branding.
When it comes to build, the M2 features polycarbonate body with a matte finish. It’s more grippy and less prone to smudges and fingerprints.
It’s also feels solid yet very comfortable to hold thanks to its relatively narrow unibody with curved sides. It’s also has a decent thickness at 8.7mm and light at 131g.
As for the initial benchmarks, check the results below:
* AnTuTu 6.0 – 32,880
* Quadrant Standard – 11,110
* Vellamo – 1,403 (Multicore), 1,007 (Metal), 2,591 (Chrome Browser)
The Meizu M2 is now available at Lazada for Php5,499. See listing here. Stay tuned for our full review in the coming days.

Novotech is already dead.
Thanks. The processor is Mediatek 6735 not 6753. That should clear up my confusion. But still glad to see this quad core scores in the 30k+ in Antutu (most quad cores, most notably the venerable snapdragon 410, rates 20k something). Thanks again.
Thanks for pointing that out. Specs were corrected.
Novotech is saying Quad. Most indicators points to Octa-core. Could somebody with the device (or Yugatech.com, if you still have the device), please use Antutu or CPU-Z to verify, thanks.
Updated the article with screenshots from AnTuTu and CPU-Z.
Meizu M2 actually has the mt6735 soc quadcore cpu..
Isn’t The Mediatek 6753 Octa-Core? Or is this another variant? Novotech is listing it all their posts (ie Facebook and hashtags) as Quadcore. What gives?
The Antutu score seems to be consistent with other Mediatek 1.3 Octa-core devices (ie Flare 4/S4, MyPhone My35/36, etc.)
I think the one in Novotech is the Meizu m2 “note”, It’s a different phone
This is an octa core. Typo na naman ng yuga SMH.

Meizu M2 is Quad-core and Meizu M2 Note is Octa-core.
I think M2 is a downgrade version of M2 Note
