As Google was busy announcing its intent to acquire Motorola yesterday, the handset company also announced its latest Android smartphone — the Motorola Defy+.
Just like the first handset, the Motorola Defy+ is also water resistant, scratch resistant with dust-proof design.
In fact, this handset is more like a refresh with some improvements in the processor and the OS.

1GHz Cortex-A8 processor
Gorilla Glass display

Motorola is expected to release the Defy+ some time in October but did not indicate any suggested retail price. We saw the first Motorola Defy last week selling for only Php16,900USD 288INR 24,414EUR 274CNY 2,097 and it was already running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread so basically the only difference the Defy+ has is the +200MHz processor speed .

Oh balls.. I think I’ll sell my optimus black for this.

No front facing cam? So no video calling? Hard to switch on this one and since Samsung galaxy S started lowering its price.

Sr. How about the old defy? Android 2.3 updated, right? With the newest Moto blur ??????
Whuat? says:
Can we confirm if the old Defy really has been updated to 2.3? I’ve been searching all over the internet and I’ve not seen any official 2.3 Android Released on Defy.
vinceq says:
hey the old defy is only froyo and will never be updated to gingerbread :)
grail0375 says:
If you’re talking about an OFFICIAL update, maybe, but I’m already using MIUI Gingerbread 2.3.4a on my Motorola Defy.
gilbs72 says:
How come the article says, “We saw the first Motorola Defy last week selling for only Php16,900 and it was already running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread…” Is this an error?
I wonder if DEFY+ uses an all-new 1GHz CPU or is simply an overclock of the same chip. The original DEFY has been a choice of overclockers using Milestone Overclock and SetVsel because it remains stable.
Abe Olandres says:
Here’s the photo with V2,3 in the label — http://www.yugatech.com/blog/mobile/motorola-defy-spotted-selling-for-php16900/
Arvee says:
Defy+ is basically an overclocked red lensed Defy, having the same processor, ram and graphics chip.
Yung nabago lang eh battery life and of course support for future android updates. I was hoping na kahit madagdagan Lang mg front cam and a small bump sa ram.
Jonaflormicfren says:
It is very cool to have this kind of phone.
Jacob says:
if you know how to root and flash your old defy, there’s nothing new if you will buy defy+ but just a better battery capacity..
