Motorola FlipOut comes with Android 2.1

Motorola just announced a new Android phone called the FlipOut, a full qwerty phone that’s got an odd form factor and uses a Texas Instrument processor.

The phone slides or swivels from the side by 180-degrees to reveal the full qwerty keyboard (meant to be used with both hands but I wonder how do you make calls with this).

Motorola FlipOut
2.8″ display screen @ 320×240 pixels
Texas Instrument OMAP3410 700MHz processor
256MB RAM, 512MB ROM
up to 32GB via microSD (2GB included)
HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP
3.15 MP camera
GPS w/ A-GPS support
FM Radio tuner w/ RDS
Android 2.1
MotoBlur UI v1.5 with Live Widgets
Li-Ion battery 1170mAh

The design looks close to the earlier one (Motorola Dext) they released. The screen is kinda small though, measuring at only 2.8″ diagonally. Motorola did not indicate when or how much this handset will cost when released.

  1. The odd shape is very appealing to me. I dunno why. If this comes cheap, it would be a nice extra phone.

  2. almost same as the nokia twist, but with a touchscreen and android eclair

there are always those ‘sana’ moments with announcements like this. for me sana they equipped it with a BB 480×360 screen, then it would be near perfect. :P

  5. wwaaaa!!! it would be a perfect second phone for me! :D I was hopng for a Nokia Twist before to be released here in the Philippines, but seeing this? Eto na ang gusto ko! :D

  6. Cute, looks like a toy though. I like the qwerty. I hope this could run Froyo too.

  7. Probably would function like a wide touchscreen phone when answering/making calls. Not sure if the screen itself is a functioning touchscreen but if it is then thats great.

  8. hindi maganda yung design. parang laruan lang

  9. The twitter comments here are annoying and useless.

  10. nako parang gusto ko to.hahaha.kahit mukhang laruan. marerelease kaya to sa pinas?i’ve always wanted to try android pero parating hindi ko siya pinipili kasi gusto ko sa phone yung may xenon flash. sana nga dumating to sa pinas because it looks like it wont be that expensive.hahaha

  11. it’s touch screen.

what do you mean with nokia twist? 7705?

  12. when will this be available here in the philippines. i like swivel phones and this ones the closest thing to sidekick. i lost my sidekick here sa pinas and di ko na rin gusto ng sidekick. i want this one. where can i buy this??? i really need to know. :)
