There’s another smartphone, though, that shares the same specs, the Xiaomi 13. If presented with these two models, which one are you going to get? Let’s find out by comparing their spec sheets.

Display

The Moto X40 has a larger screen at 6.7 inches, which is 0.36 inches larger than the one on the Xiaomi 13. That difference is minor, though, and won’t be noticed by most users. It does have an impact on the pixel density, with the X40 having 393ppi, compared to the 13’s 414ppi – a 21ppi difference, which also won’t be noticed. The two also have OLED panels for deep blacks and punchy colors.

Their biggest differences are in the refresh rate and glass protection. The X40 has 165Hz with Gorilla Glass Victus, whereas, the 13 has 120Hz and probably a standard scratch-resistant glass.

Chipset

Both are powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset with an octa-core CPU clocked at a maximum of 3.2GHz, and an Adreno 740 GPU. We can expect the same level of performance from both smartphones.

Memory and Storage

The two smartphones are also identical when it comes to RAM and storage. It comes in either 8GB or 12GB RAM, while for storage, their 128GB configuration is UFS 3.1, while the 256GB and 512GB are UFS 4.0.

Cameras

The Moto X40 and the Xiaomi 13 boasts triple-rear cameras with a 50MP main. However, the X40 has a higher resolution 50MP ultra-wide and 12MP telephoto, compared to the 13’s 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP telephoto.

The X40 wins again for having a 60MP front camera, compared to the 13’s 32MP. Then again, these are just pixel count and doesn’t always guarantee better quality. Not to mention, the 13 has Leica optics.

Other features

The two smartphones have dual SIM with 5G, WiFi 6e, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GNSS, stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint scanners, and IP68 dust and water resistance. However, the Xiaomi 13 has an IR blaster which is a plus if you want to control certain appliances at home. Both also run on custom UI based on Android 13.

Battery

The Moto X40 has a higher battery capacity of 4,600mAh, which is 100mAh more compared to the Xiaomi 13. It also has a significantly faster charging rate at 125W, compared to the Xiaomi 13’s 67W. However, the latter has faster wireless charging at 50W, compared to the former’s 15W.

Which one to get?

Both smartphones are yet to arrive in the Philippines, so we can’t compare prices yet, but based on specs, if you want a larger screen with a faster refresh rate, higher camera resolution across the board, and a bigger battery with faster wired charging rate, get the Moto X40. Choose the Xiaomi 13 if you prefer having an IR blaster, Leica branded cameras, and faster wireless charging.
