Even before we get to buy the Nokia 5800 XPressMusic here in the Philippines, Nokia is already banking on a better and more usable version for its NSeries version — the Nokia N97.
The Nokia N97 looks like it’s positioned against the touchscreen + qwerty combination of the Sony Ericsson XPeria X1.
…and the Nokia N97 specs:
3.5 inches (360×640 pixels, 16 million colors) touchscreen display
32GB internal memory
up to 16GB on microSD
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
HSDPA 3.6Mbps
proximity sensor
accelerometer sensor
full qwerty keyboard
handwriting recognition
5 MP (2584×1938 pixels) Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, video (30fps)
2nd front facing camera for videocalls
LED Flash
GPS receiver (A-GPS support)
Stereo FM radio with RDS
TV Out
3.5 mm audio output jack
Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5
With that much specs on a qwerty and touchscreen phone, the Nokia N97 could cool down excitement for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It will be out by first half of 2009 and will retail for about $693 (~Php34,000).

HAHAHA!
Karls says:
Nokia sure makes the best and ergonomic phones in the market today. the Nokia N97 have very good ergonomics and is very user friendly
Rachael Archer says:
Good review. I’m sick of all the apple fanboys shoving their iphones in my face. Maybe this will shut them up :)
JACKLYN says:
my mom is using this phone .
medyo mahirap at first kung unang encounter mo sa pag gamit ng QWERTY na keypad.
but all in all its cool
Edward says:
this phone was ranked poorly by GSM arena, and I think I’ll go with them… and besides, I find this phone too ostentatious.

Makubex says:
the nokia n97 price is 34k pesos?
i wish that are true because i read in another forum that nokia n97 is 54k pesos
coolkiko says:
well thats what puts nokia a leader on mobile phones. they keep on introducing no products. and when they introduce products they dont just introduce one.
im enjoying my 5800XM but i will surely buy this new baby. what i love about nokia is the ease of use. i also love their decent camera.

wow ever since Im a nokia enthusiast..
Obed says:
The thing about Nokia is, after they released a new product, after months they will release another product, so people will buy like SE or LG or Samsung instead of Nokia…
But I like the specs, I wish other brand will create more exciting feature, I just don’t want to buy Nokia anymore.

The design looks an HTC Kaiser / Tyn II to me.

dvbh is missing in n97? why?

windows mobile has this version before – the physical aspect i mean; HTC Tilt or Kaiser.

N97 vs. iPhone. Hmm.. The market has a good fight now.
xymo says:
i hope this one got a better touch screen than 5800 and less bug unlike the N85 and N96 that Nseries recently released.
Yoe says:
Compared to the current price of the X1, the N97s price is very tempting.
Shaine says:
Oh darn! I wasn’t informed about this phone earlier. If I was, I would’ve wait for this to come out than buying Xperia all the way from Saudi. Oh well, it’s still cool though. I’m just a 15 yr. old kid. No need to have things flashy :) I favor Sony Ericsson’s camera than Nokia :)
NieL says:
Wow, awesome spec.
Mark Anthony Grejaldo says:
32GB of internal disk space plus another 16GB is pretty neat storage. Oh well, this could be my wish list for Christmas 2009. LOL
jhay says:
It’s definitely aimed at the X1. A story on Reuters said that it’s release in 2009 is a little late if Nokia were to take the lead of the market again.
Then again, it would be a different story here in the Philippines because we practically swallowed up every phone Nokia dished out at us. ;)
