The F9 and F7 have plenty of similarities like the chipset, RAM, internal storage, front camera, connectivity, and biometric scanners. The F9, however, has the following advantages over the F7:
- Smaller notch design
- Slightly larger screen size
- Slightly higher screen aspect ratio
- Slightly higher horizontal screen resolution
- Secondary rear camera lens
- Updated ColorOS version
- Slightly larger battery capacity
- VOOC Fast Charging technology
Display
The viewing experience is already good with the latter but the former made it even better.
Performance
Both smartphone’s overall performance is basically identical since they are equipped with the same chipset.
Camera
Both smartphones have the same front AI cameras but as for the rear, the added secondary 2MP lens of the F9 is mainly meant for depth-of-field effect.
Battery
This is where the F9 truly shines as it comes with a VOOC Fast Charging technology. Based on our initial charging, it only took 5 minutes to charge the phone up to 10%. At that rate, it will reach 100% in only ~50 minutes which is already faster than the F7 which took a little over 2 hours to be fully charged.
To put it simply, the F9 is a refinement of the F7 but with some slight yet notable improvements.
The OPPO F9 is currently priced at Php17,990 while the OPPO F7 is priced at Php14,990. Personally, if I am an F7 owner, I would skip the F9 and just wait for the next iteration.
