OPPO recently showcased two new concept designs at the China International Industrial Design Expo, the “slide-phone” with a foldable display, and the “music-link”, a collection of devices centered around a pair of TWS earphones.
The conceptual designs were created for OPPO by leading Japanese design studio nendo, founded by Oki Sato.
The slide-phone is a smartphone that features three foldable screens attached by hinges folding over the same direction. Think of a clams-shell phone but instead of a single hinge, you have triple hinges.
The design allows the user to change the form and size of the device depending on the user’s needs. It even has an inserted stylus for expanded productivity.
Next is music-link, which is a collection of devices centered around a pair of TWS earphones that includes a smartwatch, an AI speaker, a portable charger, and a wireless charger.
Users can put the TWS earphones back in the portable charging case and place it in the AI speaker and it will seamlessly transition the music from the headphones to the speakers.
With this concept, OPPO and nendo want to demonstrate the symbiotic relationship between devices, its portability and convenience, as well as the integration of technology and human-centricity in its design philosophy.
