Realme 6 Pro vs. Samsung Galaxy A71 Specs Comparison

Realme has recently released its latest mid-range device, the Realme 6, and 6 Pro. It features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ display capable of running at 90Hz, the new Snapdragon 720G chipset, and a 64MP main rear camera. Being feature-rich, we compared it with Samsung’s mid-range offering to see which device offers more value for money.

Starting with the display, the Realme 6 Pro is equipped with a 6.6-inch Full HD+ IPS display capable of running at 90Hz, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The Samsung Galaxy A71, on the other hand, comes with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. While both devices have almost the same screen size and resolution, the difference lies in the panels used. People who want a smoother display may opt the Realme 6 Pro thanks to its 90Hz refresh rate, while people who prefer AMOLED displays will gravitate towards the Galaxy A71.

Moving over to performance, the Realme 6 Pro comes with the newer Snapdragon 720G paired with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.1. The Samsung Galaxy A71, on the other hand, comes with the still powerful Snapdragon 730G, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1. Both devices are expandable with a microSD card, with the Galaxy A71 compatible with up to 512GB. We’re giving the Realme 6 the slight win here, thanks to its updated chipset, although there aren’t any real benchmark figures to show how big the gap between the Snapdragon 720G and 730G is.

In the camera department, both devices appear to be using the same 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor for the main rear camera. As for the rest of the quad-rear cameras, the Realme 6 Pro comes with an 8MP ultra-wide, 12MP telephoto, and 2MP macro shooter. The Galaxy A71 comes with a better ultra-wide and macro cameras with 12MP and 5MP, respectively, along with a 5MP depth sensor. As for the front cameras, both devices employ a punch-hole design, with the Realme 6 Pro using a pill-shaped punch-hole design to house the 16MP main and 8MP ultra-wide cameras, while the Galaxy A71 uses Samsung’s Infinity O design to house the 32MP front shooter. While the Realme 6 Pro offers more variety thanks to its rear telephoto camera and front ultra-wide lens, the Galaxy A71 overall has higher resolution cameras which could produce better photos.

Connectivity options, namely dual-SIM capabilities, 4G LTE, WiFi 5, and Bluetooth 5 are the same for both devices. In terms of biometrics, both devices have face unlock, although they use different fingerprint scanners. The Realme 6 Pro employs a side-mounted scanner, while the Galaxy A71 comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Both devices are also running on Android 10, with the Realme 6 Pro having the Realme UI skin on top, while the Galaxy A71 comes with One UI 2.0. Powering the Realme 6 Pro is 4,300mAh battery with 30W fast charging support, while the Galaxy A71 comes with a larger 4,500mAh battery with a slower 25W fast charging support.

Realme has released another great device that offers a ton of value for the money. For around PHP 13k, you get a fast refresh rate display, the latest mid-range chipset from Qualcomm, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.1 storage, great cameras, and 30W fast charging support. If you’re on a budget, then the Realme 6 Pro might be the best bang for the buck smartphone available today.

That being said, the Samsung Galaxy A71 is still a strong device. It features an AMOLED display that offers better color reproduction and deeper blacks, as well as better cameras overall. Whether or not that’s worth the PHP 9k price difference is up to the customer.

Another thing to mention is availability. While the Realme 6 Pro may be the phone that offers the most value, it’s currently not available locally. If you absolutely need to get a capable mid-range phone today, then the Galaxy A71 is a great choice. That being said, if you could wait a while for Realme Philippines to launch their latest mid-range device, then the Realme 6 Pro is definitely worth waiting for.
