Here are the advantages of each smartphone:
In terms of displays, both devices are good for watching videos as they have a large screen size. The difference in their sizes are quite trivial, so you don’t have to worry about which phone to choose if you’re into streaming or watching movies. Another good thing here is that they have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection which will prevent scratches and cracks if you have butterfingers.
The Realme C2 comes with a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset which is plenty decent for a budget smartphone nowadays. However, the OPPO A5s one-upped the former by having the Helio P35 chip that’s relatively newer and more powerful. Based on the benchmark scores that we got, the latter is faster and better performing in terms of CPU performance.
For gaming, both have the PowerVR GE8320 GPU, which should be equal in performance. You may notice that the 3DMark test for the Realme C2 is lower than the OPPO A5s, that’s most likely because the results are dynamic and it depends on the testing environment or condition. Regardless, I can safely say that both of them are on par when it comes to gaming.
What I like in the Realme C2 despite having the same rear camera setup with the OPPO A5s is its capability of recording slow-mo videos at 30fps. In this price segment, you won’t see much smartphones that offer this kind of technology, so it’s nice to see it in a budget phone.
In terms of camera performance, we haven’t directly tested both phones’ quality; however, you can check out our sample photos from each smartphone here: Realme C2 and OPPO A5s. Do note that we’ll take them for a full camera comparison in the coming days so stay tuned!
It’s worth noting that each device has an advantage in terms of features. The Realme C2 already has Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box while the OPPO A5s counters that by having a dedicated fingerprint scanner. If we look closely, though, we’ll see that the latter still wins as the OS version can always be upgraded in due time, but fingerprint sensors can never be commercially implanted in an already-built device.
Lastly, for battery performance, the OPPO A5s takes the cake as it has a longer battery life than the Realme C2. Don’t get me wrong, the latter already has a long-lasting battery life, but the former is just longer.
Here are the prices of each smartphone:
Overall, it’s better to get the OPPO A5s due to it having more edge over the Realme C2. However, if you are conscious about having the latest operating system or if you are into videography and you want to get that sweet slow-mo video recording, then go for the latter.
