Table of Contents
Both smartphones are equipped with large 2K AMOLED screens at over 6-inches, but the Xiaomi 12 Pro has a slightly larger screen. However, the 0.3-inch difference is negligible. These smartphones also sport QHD+ resolution with 1080p and got HDR10+ certification.
Both have high refresh rates at 120Hz. However, the realme GT 2 Pro advances with up to 1,000Hz touch sampling rate, providing a better response compared to the 480Hz of the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
For protection, both are also geared with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. According to Corning, the Victus is its toughest Gorilla Glass yet, and it survived drops onto hard, rough surfaces from up to 2 meters. Additionally, its scratch resistance is up to 4x better than competitive aluminosilicate.
Powering both smartphones is the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip paired with Adreno 730 GPU, so we can expect the same level of performance on both. The said chip is dubbed as Qualcomm’s most advanced 5G mobile platform and the world’s first 5G modem-RF solution to reach 10 Gigabit download speeds.
However, do note that we can only determine the extent of their performance and thermals once we have both units for a review.
Both realme GT 2 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Pro come with 8GB and 12GB of RAM. However, the former comes with 128GB, 256GB, and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1. The latter offers only 128GB and 256GB. Unfortunately, both have no space for storage expansion via microSD.
Both flagships come with triple rear cameras. The realme GT 2 Pro comes with a 50MP main shooter, a 50MP wide lens, and a 3MP microscope lens. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12 Pro comprises a better set of cameras with 50MP (main), 50MP (telephoto), and 50MP (ultrawide) sensors.
Meanwhile, both also offer the same 32MP front camera for selfies.
The two devices have 5G connectivity, Dual-SIM, WiFi 6, NFC, SatNavs, in-display fingerprint scanners, and USB Type-C.
Moreover, for audio, the realme GT 2 Pro has dual speakers, while the Xiaomi 12 Pro has stereo speakers with Harman Kardon audio. Sadly, the 3.5mm audio jack is missing on both devices, so you’ll have to use wireless audio peripherals or an adapter.
However, for an added feature, the Xiaomi 12 Pro also has IR Blaster, which can be used if you want to control your appliances at home with infrared.
The realme GT 2 Pro wins in terms of battery capacity with 5,000mAh vs. the 4,600mAh of the Xiaomi 12 Pro. However, the latter wins in the charging rate as it has a 120W fast charge compared to the former’s 65W. Plus, the Xiaomi 12 Pro supports 50W fast wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Which one to get?
While both realme GT 2 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Pro have many similarities, both also have their advantages. If you want a smartphone with a better touch sampling rate, a larger storage option, and a larger battery, the realme GT 2 Pro is a good option.
However, suppose you want a smartphone with a slightly larger screen with Dolby Vision, a better set of cameras, Harman Kardon audio, IR Blaster, and faster charging; then the Xiaomi 12 Pro is for you.
We can’t compare them in terms of price, though, since there’s no word yet about their pricing and availability in the Philippines.
