From the looks of it, this leaked photo of the upcoming Nokia N8 will have a 12 megapixel camera. It’s a first for Nokia and it will run Symbian^3.
The Nokia N8 will have a 3.5-inch multi-touch display and 720p video recording capability.
I’m more interested with usability changes/improvements of Symbian^3 for Nokia touchscreen phones. of We’ll know the real deal when it’s officially announced this April.
Note: Symbian^3 (pronounced Symbian three) is the second open version of the Symbian platform.

@ illusionado
i get you there, brother! from what i’ve seen so far, this fone packs something quite rare on a nokia fone: a Xenon flash.. if so, this fone would be the first of its kind on the nokia product line to have such a feature… although, true enough, a digicam is a digicam, and a cam phone regardless of its high end features, would always be a cam phone… but i do hope nokia will stay true to the released info about their N8-00.. lets just wait and see… hopefully, by june, ill have this unit, hehehehe, IF and when its released to the Filipino nokia die-hards, hehehehe… :P
Josh says:
i just hope it’s a lot, and i mean a whole LOT better than the n900.. saw it first time last night (4-4-10) and-yeah, it blew my mind-but got me disappointed when i heard that you have to use the qwerty keyboard instead of the touchscreen when you’re using the SMS feature of the fone… uncool… anyhow, i hope it plays vids without needing the convert it…

@manong
I got your point there, but there’s always what we say ‘limitations’. A phone is a phone and digicam is a digicam. Although mobile phones are now getting closer to digicams still there will be a gap and differences between them.
Mobile companies are now focusing on producing a more compact and slimmer phone and I’m not sure why Nokia stop putting optical zoom. Aside from Samsung camphone with optical zoom which only available in Kora, I think the last device that was seen with Optical zoom was the N93.
Let’s just put trust on this N8-00 because it might be the real N82 successor.

Symbian OS is really far behind from the competition, and by the time they release Symbian^3 and Symbian^4, competition would be really far ahead of it. Top contenders would be Palm’s webOS and Google’s Android OS, and oh, don’t forget Apple’s OS for the iPhone. :)

@symbian
what i’m saying is instead of putting the cost on bigger MP they should introduce standards found in older digicams like optical zoom, electronic image stabilization, night sensitivity, ACTUAL flash and cleaner color processing.
what is the use of 12MP if the picture remains mediocre? or maybe, these companies still don’t want to cannibalize the superior stand-alone digicams
Emo22 says:
Thats TMI. Too much info. Hehe..I like nokia anway. Despite their ageing os, they keep the standard features that people always look for a cell. No propriety jacks, etc.. Hope ths will be better than satio..
And its so obvious that companies are using this MP hype to make their products more advance. Y just increase d ISO setting than the mp? That will produce better pic.. Mybe bec people r not aware of iso..

what is the used of innovations if u will still keep using lower MP if there are sensors available than enhances performance of camera phone especially the Noise level we get for bigger MP.
I get your point, but dude consider the technology, even the point-and-shoot are now having 14MP becoz tech is advancing. unlike Apple iPhone that uses an old sensor, CCD, they are planning to put a led flash after 3 years…what a dang! thing..people are buying the apple for the apple store, touch screen envy and especially because they NEIGHBORS have APPLE iPhone then they will buy it too to show off.
Hope you will get my point and sorry Apple FanS..I don’t like iPhone but I like the whole bunch of Apple fruits.
manong says:
why do they insist on that bigger megapixel if the quality will still be too grainy and too blurry compared to a cheap CANON 5MP IS AF??? they should instead put most of the features found in basic digicams.
when will they release a camera phone that can shoot landscape at night? even at 3MP…

***Update…
According to Engadget this might be the N8 that will be announce later this Q2 or in Sept. But Engadget is not putting heavy trusts to their source.

@Sir Abe
I suggest you update this article with more photos. Presenting the back of the phone and its sides so that the guys here will drool more :D.
Tnx

@The Teknisyan
Don’t compare that phone to any other..coz it will be a beast on camera section.
12MP, wide angle lens, bigger aperture, xenon + led, hdmi, and I hope it will be capacitive.
symbiandreamsdotcom says:
I have an insider this phone is really in the work right now. I’m not sure of the screws I saw beside the camera key and the microUSB hub at the other side.
This will be the N87 12MP for my guess. And N98 will still be a QWERTY tilt with improved hardware and features but for sure will run on Symbian^3 too.
Talking of N83, I hope this will be another or last powerhouse dual slider with touch.
The Teknisyan says:
This device looks alot like the rumored Dell slate… the only difference is that is uses symbian and not Android or is that Windows Phone 7?.. hmm… only time will tell!

Symbian^3 is the first fully open source implementation of the Symbian platform.
What this means is that it’ll be just as tweakable as Android, only it isn’t tied to Google services :-)
Since this will be Nokia’s new flagship phone for Symbian^3 we can also expect it’ll showcase new features such as HDMI support and possibly multi-core processing.

–symbian^3 designer preview
it’s more of an evolutionary step from symbian^1 [which is basically a touch screen translation of s60] and symbian^4 [which is a totally transformed platform of symbian for touch screen devices].
i hope they give this a good price. if this will cost less than 25k, it will be a winner!
KIM says:
The screen is as large as an iPhone (am I right)…..but the rumored 12mp camera will be cool!

Looks too large for a hand. But I do hope it makes up for what the N97 lacked – a better OS.
