Samsung Galaxy A20 vs Galaxy M20: What’s Different?

Samsung is on a roll this year as they continuously launch and announce A-series smartphones, to which we now have a total of nine known devices. One of which is the Galaxy A20; however, the company also released the M-series, with the Galaxy M20 leading the charge locally. Both of them have very close specs and prices. So, one question remains — which one of them is better? Find out below!

So which one is better?

Samsung Galaxy A20

  • Larger screen size
  • Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box

Samsung Galaxy M20

  • Higher screen resolution
  • Better performing CPU
  • Larger battery capacity

There are only some differences in terms of specs between the two devices, starting with the display. The Galaxy M20 may have a smaller screen size but, it has a Full HD+ resolution which is way better than the HD+ of the Galaxy A20. As someone who always watches videos and play games, I’d go with the former.

One of the significant specs differences between the two are their processors. The Galaxy A20 uses the Samsung Exynos 7884, while the Galaxy M20 has the Exynos 7904. While they have the same GPU, our benchmark scores show that the latter is faster and better in terms of overall performance. We also did a gaming review of the M20 that you can watch below but, so far, it’s gaming performance is pretty meh so don’t expect much especially with the A20.

As far as the specs are concerned, both the Galaxy A20 and M20 sport the same camera configuration so we can safely say that they have very similar performance. I reviewed the former, and so far I’m quite satisfied with the photos that it produced under the right lighting conditions. You can check out the photos here.

Battery-wise, the Galaxy M20 takes the cake as it carries a larger battery capacity over the Galaxy A20. Although, we don’t know yet which one lasts longer given that the latter has a lower screen resolution which consumes less power. We’ll update you on this one once we test out the M20.

For pricing, the Galaxy A20 is more affordable at PHP 9,990, while the Galaxy M20 comes out at PHP 10,990.

To answer the question at the very start of this article, The Samsung Galaxy M20 is the overall winner in terms of the viewing experience, overall performance, and battery capacity. The Galaxy A20 is not that bad though as it provides a larger screen size and a more updated operating system with the Samsung OneUI (better than Samsung Experience for me).

The a20 has a sper amoled screen while the m20 has an ips panel, which i think should be added to the advantage of a20.
